Potential rrs owner

Hi all, after a long line of hot hatches I'm going to buy a rrs. It will be around the £25,000 mark. I hoped someone on this forum could tell me anything I should look for. Must haves and what not to buy. Currently drive a BMW 3 series tourer with a big diesel engine.

Many thanks, Tom.

United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Rimini Red

I bought my '55 plate last December and was lucky...

The guy who MOT'd mine this week said it was the cleanest underneath that he had seen.... Last month he had an '06 RRS fail on the park brake issue (They can be a PITA) and when underneath everything was rusty. Real rusty.... I think the final bill was close to 2.5k because when they started the job for the park brake everything has to come off the back end. The suspension bolts were rusted in and had to be cut off. The backing plates were completely shot ( I saw them and they looked 30 yrs old) In the end it was new discs, pads, backing plates and a host of nuts and bolts and many hours labour....

His advice to me was to pressure was and waxoil as soon as the weather permits because it will keep it in tip top shape. So in answer to your question.....

Make sure it is an HSE. Look carefully underneath and check for rust on components such as backing plates to the discs.
If it has phone prep then that is a bonus as I had to fit the LR kit and getting the bluetooth module was a right royal PITA.

I'm sure others will chime in but that my lot....

PS. You will love it.... Thumbs Up

Alex

United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Java Black

What to buy depends on your afordability, requirements etc.

If you can afford the running costs by a Supercharged all day long, if not then you will have to get the TDV6 because the TDV8 is out of your price range. Personally i wouldn't get the diesel, the petrol engine just makes a RRS but you need to understand 15mpg + service costs and repairs. I assume you wont be buying from LR since there aret many to choose from in that price range so make sure you check everything functions before you take delivery. Have a good drive out because all RRS are prone to suspension bush wear and they need regular replacement, if it knocks on uneven roads then t may need anti roll bar bushes or ball joints. Take that into account and drive the price down.

If you do get a Supercharged it will be flly kitted out anyway, and you will f**king love it Thumbs Up

They all have their quirks but so do all expensive prestige cars, it comes with buying circa £60k cars used.

Buy wisely and you will love the RRS.

Thanks All. Rust on such a modern car, wow. I know about premium brands having their issues. My Beemer has had a few. No rust though.

Right, I'll look out for the hse. Id love the supercharged one, don't fancy the bills though. And you'd have one if these over say an x5 or disco 3?

Wash your mouth out. Disco 3 is based on the same platform but unless you can push yourself into a Disco 4, not a comparative drive.

As for the X5, a good general car if you like them, I had one, but never again. Certainly not a looker against the RRS and totally insignificant against the Full Fat Range Rover. Try one and see how many people don't look at you Laughing Laughing .............then slide yourself into a RRS and watch those adoring eyes.

Go get one. L322 Big Daddy SUPERCHARGED 5.0 Autobiography - Here & Now!

Very true.

I'm just off the phone from speaking from the LR dealer - looking to make a deal on a RRS grey with cream interior...

Your so lucky! They called me back and said that they had sold it on Thursday!! All because we kept on missing each others phone calls (and the sales person being off!)... Oh well..., the hunt continues!

Sorry to the OP for hi-jacking their thread.. Rolling Eyes
