You may be right Andy, but with my Goodyear in snow mode when braking even at low speed (under 35 mph), it's a bit of an ice rink.
Around here we have a LOT of stupid Censored Rolling with laughter Sheep Big Cry Censored criminal drivers who change direction without warning even under blizzard, prompting sudden braking. 2010 TDV6 3.0 HSE Santorini Black Tan Full Leather

What do you think ?

Perfect choice. I'm running these on 19" rims and the performance in the recent snow and ice has been brilliant Thumbs Up This is the first time I've ever bothered with winter tyres, but it certainly won't be the last. The difference is very noticable. 14.5MY SDV6 HSE Dynamic Indus silver/lunar/ebony 20" wheels, InControl, full-size spare, electric tow bar, adaptive xenons, adaptive cruise control, auto main beam assist. Gone: TDV8 HSE; Zermatt silver/ebony, 19" off road alloys, active diff, particle filter, tow pack (it was fun) BMW 730D SE (great car, sadly missed). Ford Focus RS mk2, Ultimate green, lux pack 2, bluetooth. The start of my mid-life crisis.
IN THE GARAGE: BMW i8 - the mid-life crisis continues and it's great fun.

I agree ^^^^^^^^

Im running wintracs on 19" rims on my TDV8

Traction was OK last winter on 20" Pirellis however braking is orders of magnitude better on winter rubber

4WD doesnt help you when you jump on the brakes Smile

wow yes 100% winter tyre's did have pirelli 20" summer tyre's, plenty slippage here in the frozen north,
tried to get a hold of vredestine you guys in the south must have them all,
had to go for a set of pirelli snow and ice. but whatever the cost its worth it £40k car on a set of summer (slicks) tyre's,
i can just hear the insurance people in the future 'and did you have the correct tyre's on for the conditions?'
well worth it.. a womans rule of thumb:if it has tyres or testicles your going to have trouble with it
