Squeeking noise from left front (depending on speed)

Hi,

I have a sqeeking noise from the front of the car on the left side since a couple of weeks. Since my brakes were already worn and it stops as soon as I brake I thought it might be the brakes. But my brakes have been done end of last week and the squeeking has not ended.

In fact it became louder within the last days. I recognized it is bekoming faster when I go faster and slower when I slow down (it sounds like when you push an old hand barrow).

Anybody an idea? Question
For sure a trip to the stealer (especially since I also have another issue with the parking sensors and the engine which I will ask a question about in a few minutes in a separate topic) but since my stealer does never have any idea what to do I would like to explain the possible failures as excactly as possible so that he knows what to do... Rolling Eyes

Sorry, but I am at w@@k and not time for rtfm at all (and I can't be bothered, too Wink ).

Thanks!

i had the same thing last week and it turns out it was a problem with the bushes being slighty warn. i think they just put some lubricant on them and they were fine.
mine used to happen mostly when the car jolted after stopping

Great, two garages, now the second one found the sound is coming from the rear. It just sounds while sitting in the car it was coming from the front but one of them ran next to the car Thumbs Up and he said it was coming from the back left wheel. Shocked
So, possibly the brakes there are just dirty (I think I'll buy some wheel cleaner, spray it on the brake pads, and wash it away, maybe this helps), they will try and clean everything properly next week (no time today since I need the car to go offroading at the weekend Cool ).

However to me it still sounds like it is coming from the front and I am pretty sure about that. I think I will also run next to the car while Mrs McBunny drives so that I can be absolutely sure about it. Somehow I have the feeling they try telling me it is the rear brakes because they just installed the front ones and by next week while they charge mecleaning of the back brakes they will change those at the front. Maybe I am being rude but that's what I think..... Rolling Eyes

The thing that brings me to thinking like this is that it starts squeeking after 10-15 mls and then it becomes louder and louder. As soon as I hit the brakes only very, very little it stops squeeking. But at very low speeds it squeeks very, very loud while braking but only - and this is the interesting part - after more than 15 mls i.e. after it had been sqeeking while driving. At the beginning it does not squeek. This alltogether sounds very much like faulty front brakes to me - and it does to my other dealership (the one that did not install the brakes).
However it is really, really loud and embarassing when going through town. Everybody turns round, it sounds like a very old bobbycar or something like that. I hope they do find it very soon. Sad

I'll keep you informed. RRS TDV6 HSE, 2006, bonatti grey, ebony interior, rear diff, s/c grille and vents, stormers, privacy, tasmods, iphone integration Wink

Hi McBunny,

And info on what you found the noise to be. It's just started to do the same on mine. I am booked in for a service in 2 days time so I will get them to look for the cause, just curious to know what you found.

Cheers

I had a similar issue a few months ago, it was due to the EPB not releasing properly, it just required cleaning and re-setting. This issue has been well covered on the D3 site, check this link:

JimboTD5,

Thanks for the reply, I had the EPB changed under warranty about 6 months ago as that started screaming even at stand still. This sounds more like a wheel bearing type of squeel but I'll remember to mention the EPB change when I drop it off on Monday for its service.

Thanks for the info.
