United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Santorini Black

Hi
Had mine fitted this afternoon.
I then went dashing through the snow.
What a fantastic tyre, the girp is brilliant even when cornering at speed.
Leaving the snow behind, the ride is much softer and smoother than my original continentals.
I must say I am supprised by how quiet they are, even at speed.

Overall Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

I have 20's on my RRS with summer tyres. Sad

Considering 20's again for winter tyres, dont wanna down size.

Would it be worth it to do the change to winter tyres and how much difference would it make? Question TDV8 HST STORNOWAY ON A 58

England 2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Java Black

I am running on Hankook Ventus ST's and have to say that i have been really impressed with them in the recent 8" snow in Kent, not saying i am 100% confident in climbing some of the back road steeper hills though but being on summer tyres i can't expect to really, the cars electronic magic can only do so much.

the pic below is a photo op i took today, there was ice under the white stuff and as i went to pull away, well i couldn't, there is a hill that i was turning into and amazingly, for the first time in my ploughing through inches of snow, i could not pull off from here, tyres just span and i did not move an inch, selected GGS and gently accelerated and without a tyre so much a spinning a quarter turn it moved away, damn i was impressed.

I owned a D2 before my RRS S/C and it relied soley on traction control, non of the magic off road settings i now have at my disposal so two lessons maybe for thoses peeps out there who are maybe a little dissapointed in there RRS in the recent snow.

1..tyre choice, a summer tyre can only do so much, don't rely on it being a LR RR RRS or its off road electronics.

2.. Learn how to use the electronic assitance thats available to you, its bloody good but only as good as the driver wants/can use it. If this was my wife driving in the pic below she would be calling me up saying she was stuck, bloody crap car and wants X5, but i was driving, new what to do and drove off with no drama but a few RRS are like my wife, which is scary.

Has anyone got 255/50/R20 winter tyres on their TDV8? Can they confirm it fits and runs ok as I'm looking at this size as opposed to 275/40's

Use this calculator...As far as I can see fitting 255/50/20's makes quite a bit of difference..better on 19's

thanks...im not sure what my rim width is so want to know whether 255 is wide enough to be suitable (standard tdv8 'V' alloys). I understand the changes to speedo readings and im not looking at buying a whole new set of alloys - just swap out the tyres between winter/summer

I've gone for the Conti winters as recommended by LR and posted by James, finally in stock at my local dudes so will get them fitted on Monday, frikkin' pricey though, but hopefully well worth it for piece of mind and what they purport to be... RRS just keep going through the White stuff, it's just the stopping bit which needs addressing which I hope these winters will make a marked improvement on...

I have secured a set of 19" rims from Town & County LR in Aberdeen and they are putting Vredestein Wintrac Extremes on them and fitting them for me. They are even going to deliver my other wheels back to me so that I don't get the inside of my RRS mucky or marked! I was quite happy to have them put in the boot, but Bryan, (T&C LR's After Sales Manager), wouldn't hear of it! Yet again Top Quality Service Thumbs Up Guess that's another pint I owe him! Endjin...I take it that the Wintracs are 255/50/19's...if so how much are T&C charging you for the tyres and how did they manage to get hold of them as I have tried everywhere to get them for my newly aquired 19" alloys?? Big Cry
