Tell me about it!! Well over 2ft in places. -6.2c at the mo but weather forecast is snowing from midnight til noon! Sounds like fun but that snow could stay til March like it did last year. |

We have a foot of snow like DSL said, but the Sport has never missed a beat. I plowed through snow like I was in no bother and got home from Edinburgh no problem. |

interesting that the D3 can handle the snow whereas a Sport cannot My offroad experiences in OZ in many differing conditions, such as Sand (dunes), rock crawl, mud etc whilst out with D3 owners has shown no real difference in capability... does your Sport have slicks Another Pommie Bar Steward down under

Well the 15 minute drive to Sainsbury's this morning didn't go too well. I tried getting down the drive and the car just gave up on me It took nearly and hour to walk there and an hour back and I'm knackered. I've now got another 5 inches of snow on the drive which I'll have to clear, which is fun when a 5 year old is wanting to help. |

Prob more down to tyre/wheel choice. RRS peeps like your sporty wide low profile rubber, I've got 18" ATRs on my D3 and 17" Conti's (235 wide) on SWMBO's D3 so better in the snow. Both happy in up to 12" of snow as long as driven sympathetically. Pic of my view in SWMBO's car today on the chaotic M90, no problem driving through foot of snow following a Toerag on wide low rubber that was all over the place.
Pic of A9 near Aviemore, D3 no problem making good pace on either ruts or compacted snow. Would have been better on winters but Contis were awesome!

Pirelli Scorpion ATRs (as opposed to GG ATs) are better in the snow, especially in the deeper stuff, than the Contis but not massively so. Have just changed from MTRs to ATRs on mine, not quite as good as the muds in the deep stuff but not far off. Saying that I was getting into deep snow to drive around stuck cars and no problems in standard road tyres.

Strangely I get a greater satisfaction driving the RRS in adverse weather, suppose that means I probably fit the stereotype

I love playing in the snow but when all the roads in central Scoland are well & truly f d it's travelling that becomes a complete nightmare. Was ready to spend a night in the car but managed o get mobile & return home. Would still be there if I was trying to get south of Perth!!
