Powerfold Exterior Mirrors

I've just read through as many of the online manuals about the RRS as possible and I cannot see any reference anywhere to how the powerfold mirrors are activated.

I have read elsewhere that the selection switch needs to be in the central position and then pulled down in the vertical plane. If this is correct, why does it state in the 2006 MY RRS Owners manual that in order to fold the mirrors you manually push them towards the side windows?

Can anyone shed light on the truth and how they work?

Having this feature is actually pretty important for me as my garage door aperture is a tight squeeze. L319 D4 HSE

RRUK,
I think this option is market and model specific,
In the UK and on my HSE, You move the mirror position switch to it's cetral point and press down toward the floor of the car and the mirrors fold automatically. To unfold, same central slot and press down again.

Hope this clears up youre worries. Its out there somewhere. Second V10 Treg on the drive at the moment.

Biggles,

Thanks, it does, if the HSE has it then the S/C will certainly have it. L319 D4 HSE

In the US, power folding mirrors are not standard equipment on the HSE (for those Yanks who can't figure out why they can't get it to work...). Smile -QM

Hi there! first post here...

I wonder if I can retrofit those mirrors onto an US spec'd RRS since I really could use that feature for my garage! Right now, I have to park, get out and manually fold both sides, and get back into the car.. what a pain!

Would anybody happen to know?

I deliberately chose a car with folding power mirrors for that reason, cos in the UK its normally p*ssing it down with rain so the last thing you want to do is get out and do it manually!

Luckily, the Supercharged has this feature, otherwise I'd not be able to get mine through the garage door opening. L319 D4 HSE

Does anybody know if the Supercharged US Spec RRS has power folding mirrors?

If so, I could probably figure out the parts and get it installed in my RRS...

North American RRS or LR3 do not have power folding mirrors. And, as usual with factory build options, you'll be on your own if you attempt to find the parts and retrofit. Heck, we don't even get a locking fuel filler door.

I'm still getting over the fact that there is a labour (or is that labor) saving device that the Yanks don't get and we do! Aren't you the guys that had seatbelts attached to your doors? Range Rover Sport TdV6HSE in Bonatti Grey + 20" Stormer wheels (ex X5 and ML driver)

My Escalade has power fold mirrors and I used them almost every day. I am really bummed that my RRS which I pais almost 20 g's more for does not have them. They have them in Europe on the same vehicle so why not here? I feel a lil ripped off actually.

Your dealer should be able to retrofit powerfold (they must be able to fit them if you need a replacement on a car fitted with them!).
One reason why you cannot get certain options has to do with all the legal action you guys love to take at the drop of a hat and product liablity/ approval.
When Freelander was first launched into USA there were NO optional extras available as dealer fit - a friend of mine used to buy his stuff from the dealer that I use here in Scotland and shipped them across to NC to get his delaer to fit them or he fitted them himself.

Can I ask a favor from one of you nice board members for a favor?

Those of you who are abroad and have a little spare time, would you mind finding out from your local parts dept, part numbers for left and right powerfold mirrors as well as pricing and parts needed?

I can swap the part myself, but the folks here in the US service depts have no clue where to begin to look for something like that...

I know that for BMW E39 5 series.... The switch to folding mirrors consisted of pair of powerfolding mirrors, drivers switch, and passenger side module...

I did it on my (now Fiancees) 530i....

I would love to be able to retrofit this feature onto mine as my daily routine consists of:

- opening garage
- folding mirrors in by hand
- backing out
- getting out of car
- folding mirrors out by hand
- closing garage
- getting into car

What spec RRS do you have (or what type of mirrors are already fitted)?

Do they have courtesy lights in?
