Supercharged or the TDV6??

Ok guys. My friend is about to buy a RRS and he is debating between the Supercharged and the TDV6. He is getting a 2005-2009 so let me see your opinion on this.

depends on his requirements, with the same dilemma i went for the S/C, more costly to run but quicker and spec up with all the toys

When you say more costly, you aonly mean by fuel consumption or anything else?

Its a tough one, a supercharged has a high spec but so does a TDV6 HSE

You will get a supercharged model of similar year and mileage cheaper than a TDV6

But depending on the miles you do and cost of fuel my supercharged used to do 250 miles to a tank where my TDV6 does 400

The tax parts and servicing are the same, but residuals are lower on a supercharged

I honestly don't think for everyday day driving the power difference was worth the fuel cost

It depends if you want the lower cost car to begin with really knowing if you don't do many miles it will take a while for a diesel to save you the initial outlay difference

Having had both I would always go for the TDV6

I drove a TDV6 and i didn't like it one bit, it felt unresponsive and not sport like at all. I went for a S/C and can live with the extra few £££ in fuel. If your friend isn't doing a lot of miles im sure he will be ok with the higher fuel cost since it wont be that much more for in town driving and the car will feel so much better to drive.

Just my choice of course.

I've never used TDV6 but I drive S/C. It gives me around 26l/100km or around 11miles/gallon. I guess I drive to gas station every 4 days to fill in 30 litters on average (I use high octane only). This makes it roughly £270 monthly fuel bill (roughly). If your friend is ok with the cost, then no doubt ==== SuperCharged! Vadim A.
