Gearbox Fault for the last time - it's going!

I have just sold my 3.0d 2010 RR Sport - it has had persistent fault messages appearing since I bought it.

I have never owned a more unreliable car, the messages don't seem to affect the performance or safety of the vehicle but it plants a seed of doubt.

Latest message as follows:

Gearbox fault
Stability control not available - drive with care
Emergency brake assist not available
Park brake fault

I'm sorry Range Rover but you are having a laugh, never again.

United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Stornoway Grey

Its all about the warranty in my opinion, yes its a bloody pain having these problems but if its under warranty no big deal. A RRS without a warranty is a different story ... lol you just cant do it.

You can't please everyone.....some people are persistent because they can see through the niggles, niggles I hasten to add that come with ALL manufacturers, BMW, Mercedes, Audi etc etc...........anyone that tells you different is an outright fibber.

Whether it be badly designed speakers (cue my shiny new Audi) Bang and Olufsen with all the options ticked, or my RRS with the knocking suspension........all inherent design flaws, all irritating and you begin to wonder about the larger price you paid for the "premium" product over the poor mans version.

At the end of the day and with all its flaws, I loved my RRS, yes it had issues, yes they bugged me like hell, but it was still the best looking SUV to have and for me the only option after owning the Big Daddy and some of those other Milli Vannilli SAV's (cue BMW etc).

If I personally could replay my purchases, I would never, make that EVER, buy another BMW, I would certainly question Audi's pricing structure purely on speaker design alone Wink ,interestingly would I buy another Range Rover / Disco / Freeloader 2........gripes yes, but pure driving pleasure and wannabe envy from the lacklustre crowd.....absobloodyloutely without a shadow of a doubt. Mr. Green

We are all different and react differently, for one person it could be minor and another catasrophic "the car has to go", the only warning, some premium brands are not as good as you might think, beware! Whistle Whistle L322 Big Daddy SUPERCHARGED 5.0 Autobiography - Here & Now!

sorry to hear of your terminal issues, armitage.

Had the same extensive and persistant fault messages for 6 months on my Disco 4. The frustration was eventually cured after a lot of effort by local dealer, by replacing one faulty earth lead. Apparantly maintaining high voltage is critical to allow the computor to reliably diagnose faults.

Hope this helps anyone with similar issues.

But then I've had 2 BMWs and can count the total garage days between them on both hands with fingers left over. Very Happy

1 RRS and gave up after 3 MONTHS of it lying in the dealer while they scratched their heads trying to figure out what was wrong! Big Cry

So as you say Will, each have their own experiences of "premium" brands. Whistle Personally I dont think there are ANY premium manufacturers now. Only ones that charge premium prices based on their past reputations! Rolling Eyes Current, M135i in Estoril Blue with more extras than the cast of Ben Hur.

X5 3.0 sd in Space Grey, 20's, Dynamic Pack, Memory Pack, Media Pack, Tow Pack, Rear DVD, Panoramic Sunroof, Steps, 7 Seat Pack, Reversing Camera with moving lines, programmable park heat, etc etc etc - Gone
