Turbo issue? Sounds like a classic TDV6 turbo failure symptoms (except the start up again & all well), maybe the TDV8 does it the same way?? Shocked

Does it have a particulate filter (DPF)? 14.5MY SDV6 HSE Dynamic Indus silver/lunar/ebony 20" wheels, InControl, full-size spare, electric tow bar, adaptive xenons, adaptive cruise control, auto main beam assist. Gone: TDV8 HSE; Zermatt silver/ebony, 19" off road alloys, active diff, particle filter, tow pack (it was fun) BMW 730D SE (great car, sadly missed). Ford Focus RS mk2, Ultimate green, lux pack 2, bluetooth. The start of my mid-life crisis.
IN THE GARAGE: BMW i8 - the mid-life crisis continues and it's great fun.

The service dep. called me,there was a faulty sensor of the turbine and something also related with the DPF.
I still don't understain why there was burning smoke coming out from the engine !
I will ask better when I will pick up the car.

It may have been the DPF regenerating. I had this happen once on my 7 Series BMW - there was a cloud of dense smoke from under the car, accompanied by an awful smell (I thought the car was on fire!). Apparently this is normal behaviour whilst the DPF is regenerating - it usually happens at high speed so the smoke & smell is not noticable.

Have you done a lot of short trips recently? This can make it much worse. 14.5MY SDV6 HSE Dynamic Indus silver/lunar/ebony 20" wheels, InControl, full-size spare, electric tow bar, adaptive xenons, adaptive cruise control, auto main beam assist. Normally I use that car in the city, when that problem appears,I was driving on the freeway for about 400 km on high speed 160/170 km per hour, that I stopped for lunch, after that .....it happens and yes,the smell was like rubber and oil burning.
Also why the smoke was coming from the engine and not from exhausts ??

Thanks

Not sure why the smoke doesn't come from the exhaust, sorry. I guess it just vents off from wherever the DPF is located. 14.5MY SDV6 HSE Dynamic Indus silver/lunar/ebony 20" wheels, InControl, full-size spare, electric tow bar, adaptive xenons, adaptive cruise control, auto main beam assist. Maybe could be a failure EGR (valve, pipe or falange bolt leaking)

Got my Range back, they said the problem was : the sensor that regulated the temperature of the DPF.
