Rear DVD System

Guys, can you tell me, does the factory standard DVD system have problems with people viewing in the rear at different heights? I know after market ones tilt etc, but how good are the rear ones from the factory?

Also would a new one with TV tuner, allow the TV to be shown in the rear too? Also does the TV tuner work on the move in the rear only?

Thumbs Up

Factory RSE has a pretty good viewing angle, so can be viewed from the middle seat etc. You can watch TV in the rear and on the move too (front only when stationary).

I think Nick means the vertical viewing angle, I know I had problems with my original Alpine monitors and my 8yr old (at the time) until I changed for tilting monitors.

Nick
I suspect the main problem with aftermarket monitors is the angle of the rear of the headrests, since the OE ones are set into the headrests and are almost vertical you should be fine.

Vertical issues would also affect horizontal angle and vice versa to the same degree.

I have a 3 year old who manages to see the screen and I'm 6'2" and don't have issues.

That's what I wanted to know. Going thru specs on cars before I try to look for a nearly new one or order a new one. Black with ivory is the order of the day. As much as I like Fuji, it will clash with my Z4

Thanks guys

We have just had back a massive spec TDV8 in Santorini/Ivory from the groups Finance Director. It's in front of the showroom if you're passing tomorrow. Most options on it but only thing missing is RSE!

Thanks but rear entertainment is key so it will need more work to find one and prefer a 3.0, as a little worried on residuals on the TDV8. Saying that I would look to buy a centrally mounted rear drop down system because I think 2.5 k on system cost is ridiculous! Silly question but any chance LR will bring back 50/50 deal anytime soon?

It's never really been 50/50, more 65/35 at the moment with a low mileage. APP will probably be with us for some time, but I can't see 0% returning for a while yet. We're now ordering for mid-January, which is Q1, so who knows what that will bring.
