United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black
2011my Sport or 2010 V8 Autobiography 2011 MY info needed

My dilemma!

I have just sold my 56 plate sport and need a replacement asap. My current options are -

2010 Autobiography V8 with 12k in black with ebony and ivory leather.

2011 Brand new 60 plate HSE in black with black leather, angiere wood and privacy glass.

or 2010 my 10 plate, in black with black leather, privacy glass, 6,000 miles and save £4,000 over the above 2.

The 1st two are the same price. MY concern on the autobiography is that Land Rover are doing away with the V8 engine and this could effect the future value of the car in a negative way.

What does the 2011 have over the 2010 my? I get that it has the TV standard but am I right in thinking that it has Dynamic response? if so, what does Dynamic Response do and is it controllable? Is there anything else the 2011 my has over the 2010?

I guess it's a nice dilemma to have but a dilemma it is!

Opinions and help on the MY appreciated.

TDV8 will still be desirable as it is a shame that it has been dropped (not EU5 sadly), and a used Autobiography is hard to find. Just be careful on the interior and exterior combination as it is very colour sensitive.

10my V 11my sees Hybrid TV added, and a DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter), but the big news is the 'Adaptive Dynamics' system which totally transforms the way the vehicle handles. It would be worth test driving a 10 and 11my back to back.

Hope this helps?

Thanks James

Would the 2010 Autobiography have Adaptive Dynamics?
Does it make a big difference to the ride of the car? I think I have narrowed it down to the 2011my or the 2010 Autobiography, there are + and - for both. I like the fact the Autobiography looks a bit different to the one i've just sold, though bit worried about the cream leather and how practical it would be with a 4 year old. Also the wheels are that diamond finish which I would imagine are impossible to refurb, and they tend to need doing every year if I let my wife in it.
Alternatively I like the fact that the 2011 would be brand new, would like to have had park heat as an option but there are none available with it this side of Christmas, tv seems a bit pointless unless you have the rear seat entertainment option, the 2011 available hasn't but would have an aftermarket one fitted.
Is the adaptive dynamics controlled from the cockpit?

Also

Can the passenger view the tv while the driver has the sat nav on, like in the big Range Rover?

Yes AB TDV8 has Adaptive Dynamics, and it's controlled by the TR dial in the cockpit. You could for instance leave it in normal road mode, and then when you get to the twisty bits you can set it to AD mode. It makes for a much harder ride, however the body control is far far better, and there is very little lean.

Have a chat to Spencer (back in tomorrow as he's with the Evoque today) as we may still have 1 spec-changable car for before Christmas and the VAT increase. I checked a car on Friday and it was showing changable and 12/12 as a build date (although things may have moved on in a week).

With regards to the TV, the dual-view system is restricted to L322 FullfatRR.

I have a similar dilemma.
I want a Autobiography, but do not know weather to get a new 2011 car with the tdv63.0 to my spec (sunroof)or look for a 10 reg tdv8. Have not seen one yet with a sun roof. The tdv8 is the engine that i like, but with the new car i can get my colour choice and spec , but no V8. Big Cry
Do not know what to do! Help PLEASE!
JJF701 is the AB you have seen the Naser Carz one?

Yes thats the one, have you seen it? Looks nice, had a chat with them today and sounds good, just need to get it checked over. He had a lot of interest so may of sold today, if so then it wasn't meant to be, think I need to sleep on this one as really can't decide between the 2, neither can my wife. It's frustrating!!! Confused

James

cheap as well considering

I know my local dealer had a brand new MY10 Black TDV8 HSE in their showroom they were offering £000's off if anyone is interested.

James, does this only make a difference in dynamic mode? I notice very little difference in my car between normal and dynamic mode. I know on the petrol supercharged it also changes the engine, gearbox and steering settings but on the diesel the setting seems to make very little difference (to me anyway). WINNER - 2009 ‘Just Doing What It’s Designed To Do’ Award

Sorry to hijack this thread a little (unfortunately im not able to buy an AB or 2011 RRS) but i have read the parts about the adaptive dynamics, is this only 2010 or newer RRS ?.

I haven't noticed this with my 2005 dynamic response equipped RRS S/C Sad

Just to tie up this thread, I collected my new 60 plate v6 HSE sport on Thursday (2011 my). Must say i'm very impressed! Much faster than my old V6 and much smoother. I like the new toys, DAB seems good, limited channels though, TV works well, though without the rear seat dvd, don't see much point. Having the Rosen headrest system fitted tomorrow + side steps and mud flaps. Not sure about the reversing camera, will take some getting to grips with.
Will post some photos on later Thumbs Up
