I also think they have taken the easy option. I'm also considering loaning the module from Alex but am concerned about trying an old unit and getting the same results which will leave me no further forward.

I have found out that buying a brand new unit will mean i have the latest software and the latest unit unit all in one whereas paying for diagnosis, then a software update will most likely cost the same price as i was quoted for a new unit and isn't guaranteed to work because the old units can only accept upto a certain software update which may prove useless to me.

I think i may wait for now and see about having this sorted during the Xmas break.

My preference is different to yours, i don't want to have to have 2 phones hence don't have an interest in getting the wired cradle to work.

Agreed, 'diagnosis' followed by s/ware upgrade might be just as expensive, the dealership assure me the one they fitted had the 'phone I left in the car working fine but at that price is it really worth it?

Dunno, I'm a bit anal when it comes to things like this Sad Let us know how it goes, I'll update if anything progresses....

UPDATE: Alex off this forum very kindly sent me a couple of newer modules to try out, this morning I got over to LPR where they quickly switched out the defective for one of these and it now works.

Not tried Bluetooth at all yet but making and receiving calls via the connected Nokia 6230i is great; nice and loud, address book comes up on screen and no drop-outs (about 8 calls so far to mobiles and land-lines).

Couple of small niggles; get a clicking in the background during the call and when incoming call it dims the radio and flashes the number on the display - should it not make some type of ring?

If anyones knows about the above two please do let me know.

Thank you to Alex for letting me try out the modules and top marks to David@LPR, I'll definitely be going back to them for servicing and if/when I buy a newer RR Very Happy

Hi kismet110

If you still have the unit fully working can you try Bluetooth for me ?

I dont have a cradle and dont want to use that option once i get sorted since they dont exist for Blackberry.
