S/C Front Anti Roll Bar Bushes Knocking

Hi all

My 30k mileage S/C is knocking a little bit in the front suspension when I go over uneven roads / bumps and when I spoke to a very friendly dealer I have found (who is actually giving me lots of advice even though I haven't spent any £££ with them) they have confirmed that very much like the L322 the front anti roll bar (stabilizer bar) bushes are known to wear and become noisy.

They also said there are new design bushes available from LR to fit and reduce the wear factor. Has anyone had this done ?. Its not that expensive at about £120 all in but I thought id ask on here first.

By all accounts the suspension fix for the Dynamic Response isn't applicable to the S/C so he could take that possibility out of the equation.

I also wondered if they are a DIY fit or if they can be lubricated to soften them like so many rubber items can with the right lubricant / grease ?.

Anyone ?.

Thanks

Carl

IIRC LR now uses different compound for them, but I had them replaced twice on my RRS TDv8, both times under warranty and I had only done 10k miles on the first set and 12k miles on the 2nd set. If you search then there is somewhere a post about replacing them DIY 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Hi Bobby

The TSB LTB00241 says Chassis No 983 onwards whereas my chassis starts 912. Neither 241 or LTB00198 states model variants, is it simply vehicles fitted with Dynamic Response ?.

Will i need to replace ball joints etc aswell as roll bar bushes on top of adding this kit ?.

Carl

Bobby, would you say that most of the knocking happens on TDV8 models?

Let's say you have DR on TDV6, TDV8, and S/C --- it seems to me that most knocks are on TDV8...

Please let me know if you noticed anything....

Also, what has improved on 2010 models that knocking is less frequent? many thanks

I think the dreaded "knock" affected all models, with DR or otherwise. It did not discriminate.

I am not sure of the 2010 models (so few here) buy I remember reading somewhere in the forum some complaints that LR has not completely resolved this issue in the later models. Malaysia Boleh!

26k miles since my last replacement set of bushes / balljoints and the noise is only *just* starting to come back as I trundle over the speed ramps into work. This must be a record Laughing Ex-G4 Challenge RRS HSE, BV55 YZE. Subtle shade of orange ! Now registered YZE481 G4RRS in Melbourne.

I am sorry to hear that, does you car have mass absorbers installed? Would you say your knocking problems are the same as on 08 TDV8? Is it a little bit better?

Please let me know, I am now looking into buying RRS S/C 2010, new from the showroom, they made me a very good price, but I am not sure.... please let me know.

I appreciate your input. Thanks!

btw, your car is really beautiful, however, I would rather go with diamond finish wheels Very Happy

on my tdv8 i made interior roof lining, sun visors, and column trims in black alcantara leather, it costs about 1700,- eur in prague, i will do the same on s/c. see if you can do it in uk, it makes a really huge difference with interior, my friends were always saying how luxurious the car looks.... just my opinion.... thanks again.
