I would expect to get the correct advice regarding tyre fitment from them yes, unless you can tell me different. So once again does anyone have a contact number for the Technical Department please.

Australia 2005 Range Rover Sport 4.4 V8 HSE Tangiers Orange

I know it's not an official answer, but as standard my ex G4 Challenge RRS had the 255/55/19 tyres instead of the 255/50's they normally wear. As Richard stated somewhere further up the thread, this is the only size the Goodyear MTR is available in as a 19" tyre, hence that size being used. As far as I'm concerned, if LR are prepared to run them on that size tyre in that event, that'll do for me.

I'm currently running the Pirelli ATR's on it, again in 255/55/19, the standard Disco3 size as the 50 profile isn't available. Apart from a more comfortable ride and an accurate speedo, there's no issue and the handling hasn't been affected (and I wouldn't expect it to be either, considering the RRS is a Discovery3 in a pretty dress). My dealer knows it's running the larger tyre and hasn't questioned it as an issue either, I raised it with them a couple of months ago when it was in for some warranty work.

Not the definitive answer I know you're after, but I can't see you having a problem with the winter tyres in that size. All it's going to do is give you a bit more protection form the kerb if you clobber it.... Ex-G4 Challenge RRS HSE, BV55 YZE. Subtle shade of orange ! Now registered YZE481 G4RRS in Melbourne.

Thanks Mike, if you and Richard both satisfied with the 255/55 R19 tyres that's good enough for me.

The reason for me being so persistent is because I checked other handbooks to compare. For the 2011 Discovery 4 with 255/50 R19 wheels their handbook recommends 255/65 R19 tyres for winter use. Now that is much too big a difference in aspect ratio, so if Land Rover can make such a bad mistake once I had little trust in their other recommendations.

Apart from that I had already ordered four Vredeisten Xtreme 4 tyres from the local tyre shop, and did not want to waste nearly £700 on the wrong ones.

United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Zermatt Silver

I've just had a set of Vredestien Wintrac 4 Xtreme 255/55 R19 fitted on my MY10 RRS TDV8 HSE, replacing the standard Scorpion Zero 255/50 R19 that I'm keeping for summer use. I'm confident that they'll be absolutely fine and I agree with earlier comments in this thread about the 55s giving a more comfortable ride, better protection against kerbing and making the speedo more accurate.

And if ever they did cause a problem, I've got some come-back against Land Rover as I have it in black & white in the handbook that 255/55s are the correct size for winter tyres for my car. The fact that I've not gone for the 'recommended' Goodyear Ultragrips is beside the point - under anti-competition laws I believe car manufacturers can no longer specify a particular make of tyre, only a size.

Relax & enjoy your tyres Smile 14.5MY SDV6 HSE Dynamic Indus silver/lunar/ebony 20" wheels, InControl, full-size spare, electric tow bar, adaptive xenons, adaptive cruise control, auto main beam assist. Gone: TDV8 HSE; Zermatt silver/ebony, 19" off road alloys, active diff, particle filter, tow pack (it was fun) BMW 730D SE (great car, sadly missed). Ford Focus RS mk2, Ultimate green, lux pack 2, bluetooth. The start of my mid-life crisis.
IN THE GARAGE: BMW i8 - the mid-life crisis continues and it's great fun.

Already managed to contact them Old Stager thanks and was assured everything was correct. Even for the 2011 Discovery 4 where standard 19" tyres are 255/50 R19 and winter tyres are 255/65 R19, according to the handbook.
