RRS TDV8 Engine etc Spec / Tech Info

Anyone know where I can get info on the engine, gearbox and turbo spec??

I know it runs 2 VNT turbos and fuel rail pressure is 1700bar max but other than that info seems very thing on the ground.

Not really interested in Bore and Stroke, more like, Boost pressure, do they all have DPF's, what gearbox does it have ( guessing ZF?), how much torque is the gearbox rated to. Stuff like that.

Managed to find out it has a Siemens SID ECU so can flash it with my poweragte. Thats a start anyway.

cheers

Hi Paul,

The gearbox is the same as for other models, it is a 6HP26x version, but there seem to be different torque converters able to handle different power levels (including small differences in the transmission itself). The 4.2 SC has the W280 for max (sustained) 600 nm, the 4.4 engine has the w260 converter with max 44nm. Not sure which one the TDV8 has though.

You can check the http://topix.landrover.jlrext.com/topix/vehicle/lookupForm for more detailed info, you could select just a day subscription (not expensive), and search/download whatever you find interesting. Am sure you will find there what you need, but it takes time to search…

Thanks for the reply Avos, I did not think anyone was alive on here Laughing

Yeah I did find that site but want to wait till I am back onshore before I download stuff off it

As you can see Avos I have not made up my mind yet S/C or TDV8

S/C, 8 to 10K cheaper, faster, terrible mpg, huge depreciation. easy 450bhp then expensive after that. £200 road tax Very Happy

TDV8 expensive, slower although I am sure I can get 400bhp out of it, the only problem is limiting the torque not to destroy the box, keeps value getter, pretty good mpg, £400 road tax Sad

MPG is not a big issue for me, but stopping at the petrol station every time you drive it really winds me up. That was part of the reason I sold my M5, flaming thing was always empty. Cayenne Turbo "S" 521bhp Standard Smile

I know about torque, when we worked on the 4.2 SC ECU we where also thinking about lowering the torque a bit and focus more on top end power to build in some insurance, and keep it to 700nm max.

Road tax looks very low in the UK, for the TDV6 I pay about 700 euros here in Belgium, and I think it would be close to 2.000 for the 4.2 SC (not even including on time registration tax, would have been 2500 euros more for the 4.2 SC). Diesel prices are also cheaper in belgium compared to gasoline, so we choose the TDV6 as our economy car Laughing

A suggestion could be to do a test drive with a 5.0SC, then you know what you could get with the 4.2SC, and then test drive a chipped TDV8. RRS SDV6 HEV Dynamic
