RRS Insurance

Hi all

I'm new to the forum as I'm just buying a 10 month old RRS HSE ex demonstrator this week, having last had Range Rovers over 20 years ago. The first unwelcome surprise is that my insurer RAC Direct, that I have used for my last car ( a LS430 Lexus), refuses to cover the RRS without a tracker being fitted. I also rang Land Rover Insurance, now under written by Aviva, with the same response. Apparently RRS are regularly stolen for use as ram-raid tools.

What am I buying into!!

I have found several insurers who will take on a RRS with out a tracker but I am amazed at the Aviva attitude (they appear to own LRI and RAC, through intermediaries). I ended up with Allianz. The requirement for a tracker causes additional costs that I can well do without!

Cheers

Try the comparison web sites - you might be surprised at prices quoted depending on your circumstances. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Yes, I ended up with Allianz thro www.Gocompare.com, the premium of £428 was £100 less than most of the others but still £100 more than I was paying for the Lexus.

Craig, Firstly welcome to the Forum Thumbs Up
LRI insurance used to be underwritten by Royal Sun Alliance and luckily I am with them,
and as long as I don't change I can remain on the old LRI policy indefinately. Thumbs Up
Sadly they are not allowed to take new LRI clients as LR have now passed LRI insurance
business to the new supplier. Who:-

A. Don't provide the same level of cover.
B. Are more expensive
C. Insist on a Tracker

Begs the question. In what way exactly does the new deal benefit Land Rover customers? Whistle 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black

I have been looking for quotes on my renewal for an 05 2.7 TDV6 and Admiral also came up cheapest with £295 for me including fully comp and protected no claims. They dont require a tracker.
I did try a number of comparison sites and they all cited Admiral as the cheapest but the quotes ranged from £295 to £365!!

Cliff , how did you manage to avoid a tracker with Direct Line? They were cheapest for me in NI but required one!

I agree, The reason I originally left Direct Line was that they insisted on a Tracker. Have they changed their policy? 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black

i would double check that Cliff, knowing the workings of DL from the inside out i wouldn't be suprised if the person on the phone didn't tell you the tracker requirement, so he/she could get there £2.00 commission

especially when they are linked to Tracker through RBS

I did try Direct Line and they wanted a tracker but they sent me a quote anyway on the understanding you would have to have a tracker. Came in at £256 fully comp protected no claims and my wife as named driver. Swift just sent my renewal and it has come in more than £100 than with Admiral.

I have fleet insurance which insists on trackers on anything worth 30K+

It is annoying though because I have GAP insurance and therefore if my RRS was stolen I wouldn't want it back!!!
