United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black
Land Rover Rear Seat Entertainment DVD

Hi
I have the rear seat entertainment in my 56 plate sport. The system stopped working and after a visit to my local dealer I have been informed that I need a new DVD changer at £700.
I seem to remember that they are just an Alpine DVD changer, does anyone know if a aftermarket DVD changer will work with the system? I'm sure alpine don't charge £700 for a DVD changer.
Just a thought before I give them the go ahead for the work.

Any help appreciated.

They dont, ebay may be an option but you need to know the model number, i have checked on mine but it does not have a model number that i can see. Maybe Bobby can help on that or try site sponsor Chorley Audio

Try this, contact info for Alpine UK in coventry.

They supply / develop Landrover systems, pretty certain they have a shop somewhere in Coventry too.

Found and bought this on ebay

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...K:MEWAX:IT

Checked with dealer and they have it available on their system. Apparently it is Japan Region 2 NTSC where as the other available is obviously UK Region 2 Pal, the seller has assured me it will work fine or money back, they seem to have good feedback so thought i'd give it a go. Dealer has agreed to fit it for me. A bit different to the £700 the dealer wanted. On the landrover system there is 2 types of changer available, this being one of them but only 1 type of screen so i'm quietly confident it should work.

I had same problem on 06 Sport SC that I bought recently which has Alpine DVD player. Took it to ICE specialist in north London who removed from car and sent it off for repair. Due to be re-fitted tomorrow. total cost about £150. The replacement Alpine was about £700 as you've been quoted. I'd be a little sceptical about a maindealer simply saying that it needs replacing unless they've had it out and looked it over.

Good luck. Michael

Had the new changer fitted today that was bought on ebay, it didn't work. The item was a Japan Region 2 changer NTSC and is available through Land Rover uk. Changed the screen setting from PAL to NTSC, still no luck. Can't think of any reason it shouldn't work as region 2 is region 2 no matter where it's from. Sending it back for full refund. I asked the dealer to put the old one back in for now and for some reason it's working perfectly, but for how long? Maybe all it needed was a reset and unplugging it did the trick, fingers crossed but I doubt it will stay working for long Question

So an Alpine changer does not work? It has to be the land rover alpine changer?
