The car has to think it is grounded. You can do it by putting a jack under the car, then lowering the car onto it. There is no way to do it without this. Remember also there are two levels of extended mode. Once you get into extended mode you then with the brake pedal pressed hold the raise button for 5 seconds to go into super extended mode.
