Sounds like a good spec mate. Great getting the Overfinch. Best design outfit there is. What wheels are you going for?

We will be expecting pictures by lunch time Very Happy

Great choice of car mate. You weren't tempted to wait for the new reg in September?

Would be interested to hear your thoughts on how it compares to the X5. I still think the 35d engine is better than the TDV8. I had my 335d remapped though which I've not done to the TDV8 (yet). WINNER - 2009 ‘Just Doing What It’s Designed To Do’ Award

Hi..

NickM - 22" Super sports for the wheels

september yes i was tempted but taking it now has saved me about an addition 2k ontop of the 4.5k discount i got.

if I had kept the x5 to the end of the PCP it would have been the end of october and it would have needed the following

front brake pads £300ish
brake fluid change £100 ish
1 front tyre £270 ish

plus buy part exchanging instead of just handing it back I was bid £1200 more than I owed on the finance so a bit of a good result for early delivery

ohh and I havent slept to well last night.....I have had so many cars in my time and Im approaching 40 so should be a bit more sensible but for some reason a new car is just too exciting to sleep, either its taht or the chinese take away I had !!!!

RichardM

That BMW engine is one of the best engines i have ever had and if I had chose to stay BMW this time I would have been ordering another X5 with the new 40d engine but I have had one now and its time to switch back to the range rover sport and at the end of this PCP I will probabily switch back as I do tend to switch between X5 and RRS

I will try and get some pictures up but it wont be until tonight if your lucky, just got back off holiday and have a lot to catch up on today. that will teach me to leave the lunertics incharge of the asylum while i was off.

Interesting seeing your previous cars, as I had 4 BMWs prior to my current RRS which I took delivery of on 12 July, so it's all very new to me. I wanted to stay with BMW and test drove an X5 but couldn't live with the hard ride; the interior also seemed a bit cheap & tacky compared with my 7 Series.

After 3 weeks and 1100 miles I'm impressed with the RRS so far, but concerned about the stories I hear of unreliability. The fuel consumption is much worse than the 730 too.

Time will tell whether I drift back to the BMW fold or not... 14.5MY SDV6 HSE Dynamic Indus silver/lunar/ebony 20" wheels, InControl, full-size spare, electric tow bar, adaptive xenons, adaptive cruise control, auto main beam assist. Gone: TDV8 HSE; Zermatt silver/ebony, 19" off road alloys, active diff, particle filter, tow pack (it was fun) BMW 730D SE (great car, sadly missed). Ford Focus RS mk2, Ultimate green, lux pack 2, bluetooth. The start of my mid-life crisis.
IN THE GARAGE: BMW i8 - the mid-life crisis continues and it's great fun.

You are comparing a 1.8tonne slippery thing with a 2.7 tonne brick - do you really expect to have better consumption in the RRS than the 730? 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Easy tiger Smile - I didn't say I expected it to be better; just surprised how much worse it is. Low to mid 30s to the gallon was easily achievable in the BMW (high 30s on a long motorway run), but in the RRS I'm lucky to see 25 - and I haven't really let it breath yet. Maybe it will imporove slightly when the engine loosens up. 14.5MY SDV6 HSE Dynamic Indus silver/lunar/ebony 20" wheels, InControl, full-size spare, electric tow bar, adaptive xenons, adaptive cruise control, auto main beam assist. I know I get accused of driving like an old person (I am compared to most on here!) but I get 28mpg in fast local A road driving in my TDV8 and 31+ on a long (300 miles+) drive on the motorways. I don't always drive like a snail but I tend not to use the kickdown and leave it in cruise at 72mph on the speedo for long drives. I leave the aircon/ climate set at 20 all year round and also run the fridge most of the time BUT I don't do much driving in town in it and only use Sport mode when I need it for overtaking. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

You may not be as old as me Wink - I have, as they say, been around the block a few times. Anyway, I must admit I do tend to push on a bit but not as yet in the RRS as it has only done 1100 miles. If I end up getting the sort of figures you're quoting I'll be happy though. 14.5MY SDV6 HSE Dynamic Indus silver/lunar/ebony 20" wheels, InControl, full-size spare, electric tow bar, adaptive xenons, adaptive cruise control, auto main beam assist. And maybe it wouldn't seem so bad if the tank was a bit bigger. I'm getting less than 400 miles from a tank, compared with nearer to 600 in the BM. It feels like I'm having to fill up every 5 minutes! Sure I'll get used to it though - it's still early days. In most other respects I've very pleased with it. 14.5MY SDV6 HSE Dynamic Indus silver/lunar/ebony 20" wheels, InControl, full-size spare, electric tow bar, adaptive xenons, adaptive cruise control, auto main beam assist. Was averaging 18.9mpg on tank to tank fill ups ( the only really accurate way to measure mpg). Got that up to 21mpg with the "chip" fitted. Fairly typical mixed driving conditions..I've said it before,I'm not a plod but at the same time I ain't trying to be a Jenson Button either. I appreciate the car is bit on the hefty side but would still liked to have seen the figures averaging nearer the 30mpg mark Sad

I must be doing something wrong then because I can get from Stirling to Lymington in the New Forest and arrive with the fuel gauge needle just below the quarter tank mark, which is enough then to get me almost into London, I usually chicken out before then and fill up at Fleet Services or in the New Forest. Won't be getting that good a consumption after next Wednesday though but I'll have a bigger tank instead! Whistle Mr. Green
When I did the trip last week I was amazed at the variance of diesel prices - Shell in Stirling was £1.149ppl New Forest £1.22ppl Fleet Services £1.249ppl and on the M6 at Stafford services £1.27ppl! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
