United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black

I've used a local Chipsaway dude on a previous company car I was returning and he did a good job on a bumper scratch but given the car went back 2 weeks later no idea what the long term quality was like.

I have heard some horrible stories and seen pictures of nasty SMART repairs and whilst it's supposed to be a cheaper way to repair a car, I think ultimately you get what you pay for.

I'd get it professionally repaired, either at a dealer or an indy that's proven, sadly not in your area to help. Gone: RRS : HSE : TDv6 : 57 : Java Black : Ebony : 20"

I've had minor bodywork damage repaired by the local Chipsaway franchise at home too, he was excellent, but bear in mind they are franchises and standards will vary from region to region. The car I had was Giverny Green and the local guy did a perfect colour match. A friend of mine unhitched my Ivor Williams trailer and it ran forward into the RRS tailgate (my previous RRS not the current one) putting a nasty dent and scratch through to the primer in the lower tailgate - the repair was invisible to everybody except me! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced

Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

hmmm. Bear in mind the main stealers don't do this kind of repair. They outsource bodywork and paintwork to contractors. Here in Glasgow, if you order a brand new RRS, and want the car colour coded, the stealer sends the car to my mate's place (he has the best body and paint shop in the West of Scotland). I'm sure London is the same. If you look at my car's pics on this site somewhere, you'll see what I mean

hmmm how much is a new bumper? it's sounding like it'll be pretty expensive for a respray. Just wondering if it might be cheaper to replace the whole thing.

paintwork is not expensive relative to the cost of a new bumper, unless of course the bumper is beyond repair. To paint an entire bumper should be between £100 and £200 imho If you see a bandwagon - it's too late.....
