driveway Ideas

Thought I might as well put it to you RRSport owners as you all have big driveways with gates Laughing

anyway, my new house has a driveway that is wide enough to fit about 3 cars on it and is just off the pavement (as you be able to see.)

My plan is to keep the garage located were it is, and remove fences A & B and extend the drive way the full width of the garden down the side of the garage, and re-erect the fence in line with the current one on the right, giving me

1) parking area for my cars away from the pavement
2) Have a detailing bay with drainage when needed
3) an area to park my caravan for loading and washing etc ( i store it elsewhere)

I would also like to put a solid type gate across the whole driveway, poss electric, were the drive meets the pavement, for security, the only type i can think of is a straight one that would emerge from the conifers and slide all the way across.

But what are these gates like Question , as i presume stones in the gutter/sliding rail will cause havoc Question

is there any other type of gates you can think of, as a standard swing gate would have to be opened in the road, maybe a gate that can bend like a shutter door Confused

Ideas, thoughts please, so i can start saving Laughing my garage doesn't store cars its for boxes Whistle

Nick before you do anything get your solicitor to check whether you are allowed to put up gates - where I live there is a clause in the title that was also a condition of the planning dept before developement consent was given, that there must be no walls, fences or gates erected across any frontages. We are permitted hedges but even the height is stipulated where they are between houses (so no Leylandiis for privacy). You may find that by erecting a gate you infringe some planning consent/ local regulation. One of the householders on the small estate I live in has put up a fence but was very clever about it (he's a lawyer!) and made sure it was no higher than the maximum height of a hedge - he also told the planners it was to keep the dog that he was going to get from escaping and worrying the sheep in the field next to us - he never got the dog! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

A good point Thumbs Up

The current owners erected a 4ft high fence surrounding the perimeter on the inside of the conifer hedge, which is 6ft high, to keep their dogs in

I will ask my solicitor to check
