United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black
Gatesgarth Pass Lake District

Went to the inlaws last week in Carlisle and thought I'd give a bit of green Lanes a go Thumbs Up Was all going well until I meet a heard of sheep blocking my path. Didn't fancy the ram (which didn't look to happy with me being there) raming the car. Evil or Very MadSheep

There were some large rocks but had no probs. Most could be avoided as it was wide enough to get round them Thumbs Up

Will have to do another day soon Richard. Not sure if the disco boys have any planned?

I think a lot of the Disco3 events are arranged over on disco3club.co.uk now which I've not signed up on. We need James to show us around Salisbury Plain as he promised to do Very Happy WINNER - 2009 ‘Just Doing What It’s Designed To Do’ Award

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

I did the full Gatescarth Pass about 9 years ago in my Defender as part of a small group escorted by The Park Authority in the days when the Pass was open one day a month. The bit over the summit is stunning and it took us 5 hours to cover the 2 miles as we were not allowed to do any damage, and any we did had to be repaired as we went along to the satisfaction of the LDPA warden. Our vehicles were all inspected by the warden to check that nobody was running on mud tyres and that everybody had plenty of tread on whatever tyres they were running on. Went across with 5 other Land Rovers and 24 trails bike federation guys and for my sins my Defender was featured in Land Rover Monthly as I had a last minute passenger - Bob Morrison one of the LRM journos travelling in my car.
The summit drive is only just wide enough for a Defender and some of the hairpin bends are so tight and with rocks on the inside of the bend and a 100ft drop on the other that I doubt if an RRS would get round them without very serious damage to doors and sills - most of the D1's and Defenders lost side steps and even my rocksliders were seriously scarred afterward. I believe the summit section is now totally closed to vehicles of any sort, the warden who travelled with us made very certain all the gates were firmly re-locked after we had passed threough them. Will see if I can find any of my photos and will post them. You might even find the article in the LRM website, it was called "A Grand Day Out" 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW
