My new 2010 TDV8 Ultimate Edition

Just back from a meeting in Paris (about 800 miles in total) with my brand new TDV8 and fuel consumption averaged a quite sensible 10.5 lt/100km mainly motorways at between 130 and 140 km/h (sorry Brits, get your calculators out), which is quite impressive and not much more than my first TDV6 2.7 would have used and only about 1 litre more than the TDV6 3.0 I have owned for a couple months.

Here's a pic of the stunner in front of the house I was staying (.. looks great in Zermatt and the shadow chrome wheels Thumbs Up Thumbs Up )

That's OK but all I could see was the photo of the Purple People Eater truck posted somewhere else............. then I realised that the link goes to the first page of the galleries where there is a "summary" of recent pics - if you scroll through the pics you will find Roland's car 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Thanks Tim ! ... have now managed to put the correct link to the photo.

..and thanks for your many posts regarding your TDV8s power and fuel consumption, etc. which was one of the reasons to sell the TDV6 3.0 and go for one of the latest TDV8 3.6 instead. Very Happy Very Happy I REALLY LOVE THIS CAR! SOMETIMES YOU'RE THE BUG AND SOMETIMES YOU'RE THE WINDSHIELD

Enjoy it Roland - I don't care what folks say about the TDv6/TDv8 having almost the same outputs and so on, they are still very different beasts to drive. Just wish that I could afford to buy a 2010/2011MY car to replace mine which will be 3 years old in October Big Cry 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Couldn't agree more with you Tim,

having owned the TDV6 2.7 for 40 months, a TDV6 3.0 for 7 months and now finally the king of them all, the TDV8 3.6 Thumbs Up Thumbs Up The TDV6 3.0 was just lacking something like soul, if you know what I mean. SOMETIMES YOU'RE THE BUG AND SOMETIMES YOU'RE THE WINDSHIELD

Does the 2010 TDv8 still have the v8 earthquake rumble when you kickdown or manually downshift and floor it? I haven't driven a 2010MY because very few dealers seem to have one on as a demo - certainly no dealers round these parts. I also notice on the LR website used car section there are hardly any 2010MY TDv8's but shed loads of 5.0ltr S/Cs and truckloads of Tdv6 3.0ltrs - hope it's not down to all the problems the 3.0ltrs seem to having. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Can't say I really notice the "earthquake" rumble that you talk about Tim...could be of course that MY10's have slightly more noise insulation or perhaps even slightly different exhaust settings I just don't know...???? ...Mind you I did come out of a V10 Audi which certainly could make a rumble so anything less would seem pretty tame in comparison Laughing
Not sure why the abundance of S/c's and TDV6's as against the V8's other than build volume...Maybe new time buyers of RRS are slightly disappointed with the V6 experience and cant justify the running of the S/C...As for the rest of us I would think that anyone with a V8 just now would view moving into a V6 as being a backward step hence the reason that once a dealer sells a V8 they tend to stay sold for at least a couple of years or until trade in time.
