Police are going round clubs & pubs saying that we can't wear our England tops for the footie & gotta take the flags down as it's upsetting people that don't come from here. Now iam not being racist but this is taking the Censored ! This is our country & we need to make a stand. If they don't like it then GO AWAY! Would you remove your Turban or Burkha because it upsets us? Repost in ur status and let everyone know!

I used to get wound up by stuff like this until I began to realise that half the time there's no truth behind it, or at least it's something that some Daily Mail reader has been totally stoked up on and is blowing out of all proportion. I'm not saying there aren't some loony left decision makers out there, but these things are rarely more than a storm in a teacup in the end.

Similar stories have circulated before when the reality was it was just that many pubs and clubs already had a "no football colours" door rule in place the try to prevent football-related violence in their premises.

P.S. V8 Andy, there is an 'off-topic' section for stuff like this... Wink Alfa Romeo Giulietta 1.8::MG Montego Turbo::MGB GT::Rover Sterling::MGF::MG ZT 190+

Apology over England flags cut down in Nottingham

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/nottinghamshire/8691257.stm

A council leader has apologised to a grandmother after England flags she strung across a street were cut down.

Doreen Carnelley, 74, said she had put the full-sized flags across Sturgeon Avenue, Nottingham, to mark the World Cup which starts next month.

The city council cut the rope and left the flags on her hedge saying it was illegal to tie items to street lights.

Council leader Jon Collins told her it was an "error of judgement" and said the decoration would be reinstated.

'Complete nonsense'

Mrs Carnelley said she was shocked to find the flags "chucked on my hedge" and wanted to put them back up.

At the time, the council said the flags were a health and safety hazard and could be dangerous to motorists.

However, Mr Collins said: "This is a complete nonsense.

"The guys are going to go back and put the flags back up.

"It's an error in judgement and we want to put it right."

Mrs Carnelley claimed she had flown the flags across Nottingham during the last six World Cups and European football finals.

Nick

It is correct that the Police have informed various pubs/clubs to consider how to manage the world cup (dress code etc), however its no different to some places not allowing trainers in. I don't believe the Police have actually said 'don't allow England Shirts', however some people just like insighting this crap to get a reaction - its all over facebook Rolling Eyes

People just need to relax a bit - laugh and smile more I say and just ignore the stupid press
