United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Santorini Black

mine too, having had freelander which had electrical faults and leak, 3 discoverys all fine and a strange rrs. think i will also be going elsewhere, the garage owner told me that the crank case would have blown when i was driving it the dreaded day, that would explain the black smoke.3

think i will go for a mini

I only have sympathy for LR's position. The "dash-like-Christmas-tree" issues and recalls ought to be set aside, irritating though they must have been. This was an engine issue: it failed and even if the failure was not directly related to the failure to service the car from delivery until over 18,000 miles, keeping to the service schedule is clearly the responsibility of the owner. I think a £500 contribution is very reasonable (good grief, it's not much more than the cost of the missed service), even if the diagnosis was that there was a warranty problem with the engine.

Here's the litmus test: pay the £500, get the car back and take LR to the small claims court. I reckon you'll lose in pretty short order. Every silver lining has a cloud

I think you shoyuld consider yourself very very lucky, I have had similar problems with other cars and if I had missed the service as you did I would have been severly out of pocket.

However "young" the car is, face it, you did not look after it as you the manual says so you are very lucky.

Count yourself lucky to not fork out the full engine cost, while I agree that is not good that an engine fails with such low mileage I think you should live and learn and in the future service your car whatever happens. RRS TDV8 HSE 2007- JAVA Black/Black interior,

Whilst I sympathise, the "they're liable because they offered to fix it" thing doesn't help - because this is becoming a more and more common an angle for people to take, goodwill gestures from companies are quickly becoming a thing of the past.

Goodwill does not equal an admission of liability, and long may it stay that way Alfa Romeo Giulietta 1.8::MG Montego Turbo::MGB GT::Rover Sterling::MGF::MG ZT 190+
