BUYING A 2007 HSE

Hi,
I've got the chance of buying a 2007 HSE on 20" rims. The car is looking good, clean history from the Land Rover dealer, no off roading etc but I would appreciate any pointers as to what I should look out for before parting with my cash.

I've been trawling the net for info' on this car and all I find are horror stories about appalling reliability - it's really putting me off. Pity.

Apart from the obvious 'used car checks', while test driving, listen carefully for any 'pronounced' knocking from the suspension - it is fixable, however can take time for dealiers to resolve.

Is it out of warranty? Consider having it independantly inspected and get some warranty on it straight away - it may be fine, however if not, it can be expensice to fix

I still have to take it for a test drive and will be all ears for anything, especially from the front suspension.
The garage offers a 2 year guarantee on this used RRSport.
I read about front wheel lock ups on another Range Rover site and that is really frightening.

as I've never heard of that on here before I would say thats not an RRS fault

Be careful of what you read on any car forum - whatever car you choose, you will find horror stories

Look for the happy RRS owners thread on here. Mine is great, no problems.

As has been said before on here, do an internet search and you will find lots of horror stories on all cars. Look fro X5 problems, ML problems and they are all numerous.

Some of the diff problems referred to on Rangerovers.net are related to the earlier FFRR and I have never heard of anyone on here having lock up.

Many of the faults (not all) on this forum are easy fixes.

If you get a pre purchase inspection and a warranty, go for it, the RRS is wonderful. Got class, got style and soul.

If you want something without soul, buy a Toyota....although they are not without their problems either. Gone - 2008 Stornoway Grey RRS 2.7 TDV6
Gone - 2009 Buckingham Blue RRS 2.7 TDV6
Gone - 2010 Alaska White RRS 5.0 V8 Aspirated
Gone - 2017 Chawton White RRS 5.0 V8 Supercharged

I personally wouldn't own one of these without a land rover warranty, It gives you worry free ownership in my opinion.

If it sounds good after test drive abd you have a 2 year warranty go for it. No problems in 2 years for me

Thank you everyone for replying - this is exactly the kind of good useful information I was looking for.
After the above posts I'll be focusing in on;
- Front suspension knocks
- engine power failure lights
- power failure when pulling away
- air suspension - leaking air compressor

Any and all other tips are very welcome. If all goes well I could be changing my "ownership" status on this board.
Oh by the way, I'll be trading in a 2007 520d touring (M Package). The Beemer is faultless really so plenty of friends are saying I'm insane to be considering a used RRSport Shocked

I went from a 525i M Sport Touring into a RRS - the BM was faultless, competant and great value, HOWEVER lacked any soul - for the year I owned it I rarely took a second glance - the RRS is a real feel good factor car (mine was faultless for the 16 months I owned it)
