Buying an RRS

Very Happy
Hi all, new user to the site which was given to me by a friend who used to own an RRS.

I am looking to buy a 1-2 year old RRS and can't wait to get one but want to get my choice right and pay the right price.

I have been told to go for the 3.6 not the 2.7 based on pure drive experience, any views?

I have seen HSE and HST vehicles advertised, what is the difference?

What extras should i be looking for and what should I avoid? For instance I once heard that side steps are a pain as the get very dirty and dirty your shoes and clothes, I have young kids so can see an advantage but don't want to give myself problems?

Is it best to buy from a main dealer, general trade or private?

Any tips would be helpful, I am looking to get sorted out in the middle of May.

Thanks

Clive - welcome.

Yes go for the 3.6 which is more commonly known as a TDV8 - great engine with lots of power.

HSE if the high standard equipment model. HST is basically just a different body kit for the HSE, bumpers & tailpipes. Makes the car look a little boxy in my view but blind people like it.

Extras - try and get factory fitted tinted windows as they look Cool . Agree with your point on steps. If you can get the rear dvd system & TV.

For a car of the age you're looking at go for a LR dealer - more expensive but if it were me I'd be happier. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
2009 Alaska TDV8 - Gone and much missed.

United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Sport 4.4 V8 HSE Java Black

Hi Clive

3.6 tdv8 are very good we have had one for around 5 months now and was purchased from a Trader who specialises in LR'S.

Then again I also have the HST Model looks great and sets off the car rather than it looking standard and dull and gives it a much more sportier look as you will be able to see in Images if you take a look at a standard HSE to a HST. I find the standard HSE look extremely boring and I would neva purchase one.

The HST was purchased from Autotrader 2 years ago and have had no problems, its usually better to get the car fully inspected as your looking to spend a decent amount ££££

The 2.7 is very sluggish and I wouldn't reccomend it.
