BK, we basically migrated all our old PC base off and onto the IMAC and never looked back. Iworks can open office based files, or for a tad over 200 bucks you can get office for MAC (3 user licence). Unlikely on the personal computing front to go back to mickeysoft, MAC apps are just that more intuitive and easy to use, as for MAC OS, its UNIX based inherently more secure (although i have AV and firewall) and stable. Touch wood after 2 years, not had to rebuild, defrag or reimage (for windows users) the machine (IMAC), Blue Screen of death is a distant memory.. Another Pommie Bar Steward down under

And you probably know this anyway, but if you do still have any PC dependencies, you can install Windows on a Mac so you select which operating system you want to boot up into. With virtualisation software like Parallels you can even open up a window whilst running in Mac OS and have Windows running just in that window.

It will still be PC for work as they supply it but all the home stuff will go Mac to accompany the pods and the pad,

I moved across nearly 3 years ago and haven't looked back. In my experience no system is perfect, I just like to use the thing not fiddle with it so it suits me fine. We have 2 iMacs an iPhone and 3 iPods. I think I will buy an IPad to present information to my clients in a simple way (they are mainly elderly) so I have a computer that doesn't look like one! I don't know if 3G is the way to go or wifi and buy a mifi router dropping the iPhone's sim into it for occasional use You can buy one unlocked for about £60. Porsche Cayenne S Diesel 66 Plate |

C'mon Paul - keep the £60 for diesel and just unlock your iPhone to put on a WiFi access point app. |

Your right Lex, but I'm yella I've told my son he can have it if he does well in his SATs - perhaps I'll encourage him to jailbreak it It worried me too that DG said his son turned his into a brick Porsche Cayenne S Diesel 66 Plate |

DG revels in his ignorance and disdain of Apple kit plus my daughter claimed to have lost hers so she could get a newer, better one. Jailbreaking them is easier than setting up a digital television - it's a simple process. Most people who claim it 'bricked' their device just haven't managed the full reset ("DFU") mode. I'll hold your hand if you like... |
