Deposit put down!!! - Now with added photos

I have just put my deposit down on a 08 Java Black Supercharged RRS and I cant wait, I still couldnt make up my mind between the 3.6 or the 4.2 but the power of the petrol and the sound of the V8 with Supercharger just made me grin!! Its going to take some getting used to as I am used to tuned Imprezas and am trading in a Focus ST for this car but I am sure I will enjoy it.

Thanks for the kind welcome Jay, after spending 13 years in Subaru Imprezas it will be a change for me to have something more refined lol. I am keeping the Impreza thou as it is more of a toy than anything (350bhp in little more than a tonne...) but the RRS will be my main car. I have been after one for 15 months now but my partner and I couldnt agree on this purchase, but then when I started to test drive Audi RS4's she decided the RRS was the better option - not sure if her friends getting a vogue and the other a Jeep made her mind up for her....

ha ha, looks like someone else that couldnt bring themself to go for the new model!!, i too have had imprezas since '96, (3 of them) swapping inbetween with other cars, but always going back to them. but this time i can honestly say i dont feel in the slightest that i will miss it!! (i would go as far to say that point to point i can drive my rrs just as quickly as the scoob, but in much better surroundings!) i always got too attatched to them in the past, saying that i might in the future get something that i can turn into a track/rally car. but then it would probably make more sense to just get a westfield or something!

what is it about subarus and guys called dave anyway Wink

regards

lol Dave, yes there is a common trend in Dave's having Scoobies!! I will still keep the P1, I've had it since new and love the thing too much, plus I have run the owners club for the P1 for years so I sort of feel I cant leave them... I dont think I will ever be able to drive the RRS as quickly as the P1, its as close to a track car as I want to get and running over 280 bhp per tonne with great handling.. But saying that the interior is nothing like the RRS and I am looking forward to looking down at things I normally have to look up at!!

One thing I have noticed is that it has a black Land Rover badge on the front grill, is that normal or has the past owner changed it?

I know I will love it, just realised from looking at my joined date it has taken me 12 months to find the car I want and have the money to afford, so I am sure I will love this vehicle for a long time. The only thing I would have changed is black leather instead of Ivory but I had a huge list of wants for this car and it fails on just the one (which actually isnt that bad).

Leason for anyone searching for a RRS, take your time, save your cash and eventually your bride sorry I mean RRS will arrive Laughing

All the LR badges are black on the supercharged mate. How much did you pay for it. At least you got it from a dealer so you will have full warranty. Go over it with a fine tooth comb. Got two new front seat covers for mine cause said they looked a bit worn. Get a full history with all work done with service and warranty aswell.

Meant to mention getting the leather refurbed on the front seats as they are stained from jeans and then they are going to coat them with GardX, all included in the price. There is on dink in the body work and a couple of little scuffs/scratches in the paint work and they are all getting sorted.

I couldnt mess the dealer about on the price as a family were at the table next to me also trying to buy the same car so it was a race to pay the deposit, for a while I thought it was a set up until I saw his reaction when he was told I had just bought the car..... Funny from the outside....

don't forget to check the alloy wheels. they are big wheels and don't like kerbs.

Oh yeah... They are in good shape tbh, much better than the car I am trading in... but as I walking up to the RRS the sales man said "pay no attention to the alloys they havent been refurbed yet". I am hoping to pick the car up on the 15th but there is a bit of work to be done to it - if you walked past it you would think it was mint but I am a Censored when spending cash.... hopefully it can all be done by then

Shaun Ellis at Lookers Chelmsford. He has put up with me for 12 months and even when I have given up and gone missing for a couple of months has still treated me seriously, so much so he rang me on Saturday morning to say they had taken delivery of this car on Friday evening, within 4 hours of the phone call I had bought the car. He spent loads of time getting to know me and what I wanted and has come across as actually caring about my wants... Obviously I have dealt with loads of car dealers in my time and I know they are all a bunch of sharks, but he certainly has helped me and been honest with me. the proof of the pudding is obviously in the eating, but he has told my girlfriend and I that we are getting a free half day driving experience with LR and if that comes off and all the stuff put right then he will godfather to my first born....
