Is anyone getting the 3G model? Or just the wifi model?

Richard

Im going for the 3G version, if i have read properly, you can use it like a pay as you go phone and top up when you go abroad or travelling were you need the 3G.
I cant find any published costs for the Uk version but we can place orders from the 10th May
As for the devise, all the people that are saying that its useless obviously don't know anything about them and what they can do. i think they will change the way people surf the net for the foreseeable future.
but hey what do i know !!

I take it you won't have it for the meet tomorrow Nick? Would be cool to see one!

Jay Boy, thanks for the info. The thought of being able to use it anywhere is very appealing. WINNER - 2009 ‘Just Doing What It’s Designed To Do’ Award

Australia 2010 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Java Black

I have already transferred some work videos onto it so that I can use it to give a client a quick overview of various products we manufacture. It looks like it could be a great presentation tool for a one to one or one to two meeting, the audio is good.

Watching TV last night, Mrs BKHK heard a song that she liked. By the time the show had finished, it was already downloaded and in the iTunes library.

Oh, work videos, that makes a tax deductable expense, thank you Mr. Treasurer! Gone - 2008 Stornoway Grey RRS 2.7 TDV6

yep - you will require a 3G mobile contract for it (i.e. micro sim card etc)

Come on Nick... what do you think? Or does the forum not work on it? Very Happy

T-Mobile do a PAYG scheme for £2 a day, just pay when you need it. Would be good to use something like that. WINNER - 2009 ‘Just Doing What It’s Designed To Do’ Award

Richard

The forum works brilliantly on it, using it now to type. It has now become very much a part of our open plan kitchen and living area and has replaced diaries, calendars, phonebooks etc.. While the i phone and i Pod touch are also excellent and capable of the same things, the size and keyboard make the pad a really useable house rather than personal device. I think I may get another one for work video presentations. Gone - 2008 Stornoway Grey RRS 2.7 TDV6

I still haven't got it - my client says he will keep it for himself if I don't want it - just not sure worth paying £500 for 16GB or just wait, albeit patiently, for it to come out here in 4 weeks.....and have no warranty issues, application download probs etc etc.....anyone want it they can have it......

Personally if I was looking at a 3G one I'd wait till they're released here and see what iPad-specific contracts the providers are offering - we all moan about O2, vodafone, orange and t-mobile but the UK iPhone contracts are amongst the best available anywhere (for the iPhone).

If you're planning on using an existing one with a SIM-only contract, remember that this uses a micro SIM that aren't the type of thing you can just pick up from your local O2 store like a normal SIM card AFAIK Alfa Romeo Giulietta 1.8::MG Montego Turbo::MGB GT::Rover Sterling::MGF::MG ZT 190+

hmm not made my mind up about the IPAD, we are a 2 macbook, 3 iphone, 1 imac family Shocked so already to much Apple product personal investment

Been following with interest Apples public fall out with Adobe over Flash based apps, this had now raised what the US anti-trust see as possible uncompetitive practices in terms of Software application development etc.. Will watch that with interest... Another Pommie Bar Steward down under

Zilchy

All my work computing is PC and email is Blackberry. Up to now, when replaced, old work computers have graduallly found their way to being reset to factory and relegated to personal use for iTunes etc.

We are a non iPhone couple but a 3 iPod Touch (1 travel, 1 car and 1 MRS BKHK) and now a 64gb wifi iPad. However, I am thinking of moving all of our personal computing onto an iMac for tunes, pictures etc and having a clear out of all the older PC laptops. I can't help thinking (maybe wrongly) that it will all integrate more with a Mac.

What do you reckon? Gone - 2008 Stornoway Grey RRS 2.7 TDV6
