Im talking time not milage, your earlier posts says first service carried out in November 09, you bought it in November 07, your first service was a tad late.

With water damage though its often the risk of electrical problems that causes the write off as its hard to track where the problem are. WINNER - 2009 ‘Just Doing What It’s Designed To Do’ Award

Yes, but that £8000 was just for the engine - the total repair including all the electronics and upholstery etc came in at about £17,000 IIRC Alfa Romeo Giulietta 1.8::MG Montego Turbo::MGB GT::Rover Sterling::MGF::MG ZT 190+

I suppose it depends on when the service light came on. Most service indicators these days are variable according to the mileage you are doing and your driving style......so yours may have come on at 12000 miles or earlier because you only do short journeys/low mileage.....in which case you may have missed a service by several thousand miles or 6 months of what most manufacturers would call heavy use because of the stop/start nature of your driving. Where as if you did daily long journeys the wear and tear on your engine would be less so missing a service by 1300 miles might not be so crucial. So given the above I think I might pay the £500 and get back on the road asap. TDV6 - gone TDV8 - gone Audi Q5 3.0 Tdi Sline wef 6/11/10 |

Julie - as most have already said, pay the £500 and consider yourself lucky. You have made the warranty technically void by missing the 1 year service. As for the service indicator - mine never actually came on resulting in my 1st service being done at nearly 20,000 miles! 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

..Hmmmn,know that feeling well.......I have a vehicle with a noisy (horrible tapping) engine (from new), I have complained many times to LR, and several dealers about it, until I am blue in the face, they simply do not want to know. I am convinced that there is excessive mechanical clearance somewhere in the engine, that it has not been built to the correct tolerances by the feckwits at the Dagenham engine plant, and that it will fail prematurely. Julie, believe me, you are being treated well by LR, especially as you have not kept to the servicing schedule. Pay the £500 and get it sorted,( otherwise it WILL cost you thousands), and hopefully at the end of it you will be a happy customer, and may one day(unlike me ) possibly buy another LR product. Julie - Sensible choice to pay the £500 . Though i would be inclined to keep the car with that low milage and a spanking new motor in it. MY10 3.0 HSE Santorini Black, Ivory Premium & extended leather, privacy, paddles, diamond turned alloys, Ipod lead that charges, tasmods, rrsport.co.uk stickers

Can I ask in what has it “never been right since purchase” ? Reason I ask, is that my D3 is currently at the dealers awaiting a new engine, after only 15000 Kms & having been properly serviced according to the LR schedule. I had no evidence of a an oil leak & by the time the oil pressure light flickered (& I mean flickered) it was too late, the engine was banjaxed being completely dry of oil !! I’ve always had a feeling that there was something not quite right about the D3’s engine since I got it. Compared to the RRS it always seemed somewhat under pressure when towing & even without a trailer, when just driving daily, there seemed to be some sort of lag in the engine. I had it checked for EGR fault codes& other such stuff a few times, but to no avail. I have since heard that there have been a couple of cases of faulty engines in the D3 resulting in a total loss of oil & a leak into the crankcase would certainly produce the results we’ve seen. But apparently from what I’ve heard the RRS doesn’t seem to suffer this fault……… until now ! I’m hoping & have no reason thus far to doubt, that LR are going to stand over this & replace the engine under warranty, as I‘ve complied with all service schedules completely. However in your case, if they are playing hard ball with you over service schedules & are looking for £500.00 I would be inclined to pay it. Think of it like an excess on your insurance policy. Where if you crash your car, you may be liable for the first £500.00. Principal of the matter aside, it would be a cheap fix compared to the alternative, particularly if they (LR) are trying to apportion some blame to yourself. |

hi there, yeah when you put foot on gas it struggled sometimes to pick up speed, slugish and heavy, lots of lights on dash all faulty, sensors faulty, and recalled 3 times for quite big things. i think the rrs has the same engine as the d3. good luck |

Yep the D3 & the RRS share the same TdV6 engine.
Best of luck to you too Julie |
