i have 57plate rrs , broke down last week and i need a new engine..... only has 20,000 and landrover are saying lack of servicing!i have 3 small children hardly a boy racer.
lr came back today the engine failed but client not to blame but want £500 from me because i have not had 2nd year service done. any one else had similar probs

I would pay the £500 and be done with it.
New engine would cost you thousands.
The light comes on for the service if you reach the milage, if not then it must be serviced every year according to the manual. i'd be over the moon with the 500 quid.

Just to make things clearer is it a 57 plate car and you have only had one service  MY10 3.0 HSE Santorini Black, Ivory Premium & extended leather, privacy, paddles, diamond turned alloys, Ipod lead that charges, tasmods, rrsport.co.uk stickers

Jeep 4.0 High Output XJ 94 6" teraflex lift, c/w rear coils, 9500lb winch, 35" TSL super swamper boggers, safari snorkel, custom made bumpers, tom woods custom double cardon driveshaft, twin electric fans. Don't follow it..............you wont make it. The first 4 x 4 by far.

yes one service, the garage i use can never give me a car that i need for car seats, buggies etc..... when car was recalled they gave me a corsa..... the engineer said there was oil leak at crank case so no oil would be visible and no warning light came on

yea but car was just serviced in november, surley if they wanted to get out of warranty they wouldnt have taken car for servicing, anyway its been recalled 3 times and has never been right since purchase

I agree with previous advice, I think they are being reasonable. The handbook clearly states service at 15000 or every year (which ever comes 1st) - £500 is not much more than the cost of the service you failed to arrange and have therfore saved!!

but there is only additional 1300 miles on clock since last service, joe (owner of shields has advised that the leak blew when driving that day) i think it is shocking,,,,, i had a mini many years ago and it never let me down like this or recalled

I hear what your saying but it still is a 57 plate car and your first service was November 09, a little overdue, in fairness i dont know the problems you have had with recalls and maybe thats your avenue.

Only you are responsible for making sure the service intervals are met and on time, a dealer will not turn away a service because you have missed services that were due before.
