Has anyone else got a covering of ash on their car?

Mine has a dusting of volcanic ash all over it. I first noticed it on the tailgate last Sunday. It is now all over the car - a light grey fine ash dust. I will need to wash this off before I put a sponge near it so that I don't scratch the paint.

Can you be sure it is ash - more likely i know where you are but i had had a car look like that after 'regular' rain....

After a rain shower at the start of last week I had little spots of fine dust all over the car as did my Mums. It wasn't grey though it was a kind of brown colour. Wasn't taking chances with what it was so both were power washed before a mitt went anywhere near it. Current, M135i in Estoril Blue with more extras than the cast of Ben Hur.

They say to rinse with plenty of water as its acidic Too so it's diluted as much as possible

It hadn't rained when the first lot landed on the tail gait last weekend - so it is most definitely volcanic ash. It has got worse with a small rain shower this week. I live in a rural village - green fields 360 degrees around the village so no sand or any other urban or industrial elements in the air or off surrounding roads. I am 300 yards from the nearest road so definitely the Icelandic invasion!  If you see a bandwagon - it's too late.....

You could see the thin dust layer on both cars when you looked across them! I suppose the rain showers brought down more and it collected where the water beads sat into concentrated spots! If you live in a rural area they are harvesting "Elephant Grass" at the moment with combines. This
will through up light dust that can blow for miles. We're surrounded buy the stuff and my car's filthy...
