Sitting as a spectator to your groups antics up by the Paragliding centre, I'm not sure that your FUN was enjoyed by others as much as yourself.

I am sure you impressed each other with the repeated wheelies up and down the grassy area by the bikes, next to the gravel track, and impressed yourself with the super wheelspin as you pulled away.

Both Defenders managed to keep their sensible heads on, one would like to think that they had respect for others and their enjoyment of the superb facilities offered by the Plain.

Sure we all do silly things me included, but from my point of view to carry out such antics off the right of way and next to another group of people pursuing another sporting activity only helps to reinforce peoples general negative attitudes to Off Roading and bring more pressure to bear against it.

Plenty of more remote places to pull some tricks without creating a negative impact to others

personally I thought the youthful exhuberance dial was firmly set to LOW but I guess that's what makes a market, a difference of opinion.

I can only apologise if we impinged on your activity - it certainly wasn't intentional - that smooth run of grass (reminded me of a horse course) was the safest place to enjoy what the KTM's could offer. As for any wheelspin (bearing in mind DSC was "on"), it didn't feel as dramatic as it clearly was - again, somewhat unintentional.

What a small world! I was fascinated by the biplane that landed, certainly a nice afternoon to go up. Had I known you were there I would have said hello. Mine was the silver Defender, but you may have noticed that I didn't stop for long as I was keen to get going as time was getting on. I apologise if there was any evidence of 'heroics' out of my view, however what I would say is that we had a good sedate drive across the Plain, and as I was leading (and driving predominantly at less than 10mph (and slower) then there was little opportunity to misbahave). I moreso than most appreciate the impact we have on either keeping the R'sOW's open, or loose them for good.

holy frig - grumpy alert?!

i'd love to see some videos of the RRS doing wheelies - was it like the drag cars going down Santa Pod and the likes? how did rrsboy manage to successfully do a wheelie without the jeep flipping over. I'd love to have seen that kind of control.

calm down dear..... it's only a bit of fun, and no person or animals were harmed in the making of a bit of fun... you were maybe young yourself once.... try and enjoy life a bit instead of sounding older than you probably are, talking nonsence about RRS's doing 'wheelies'..... and being generally grumpy.

rrsboy has apologised to you (although I really cant see why he should have to) if you were offended by his actions. he doesn't sound like he was going mad cutting up turf and making a mess, so perhaps you are being a bit melodramatic.

I suspect the big wheelies might be a reference to KTM antics but the thougt of an RRS doing it sounds cool!

Nothing wrong with being a big kid but on the Plain is the wrong place. There are constant calls for us to be banned from using the BOATs and these incidents are all ammunition to the antis. rrsboy has been gracious, apologised and probably learnt a thing or two so let's leave it at that.

I was providing a view from the outside looking in which is not always the same as the view looking out from the inside.

Yea call me grumpy but over the last 10 years too many rights of way have been lost and their is great danger of a total ban.

Many of the rights of way also have horse gallops beside them provided by the local landowners, a good idea in my mind, enables both enjoyment from the horsie world and off-roaders without endangering either unneccercarily.

I have also been a biker both on and off road for many years and it was as I stated mainly the bikes cutting up the gallop, private land. I'm sure if someone rode onto your lawn because it was the best place to display the bike and bikers skills you would have a different view. The RRS was floored away, once again cutting up the gallop, as stated he had his DSC on so if you have any experince off-road you would know it has to be floored to still get the wheels to spin, it is an aid not a failsafe.

I can tell you for fact that this really p s off landowners who then come along and take pictures as evidence to use against us.

Though the actions of all were not extreme in this case, it is this kind of damage that means the Ridgeway is now closed for 7 months a year and over 2/3 thirds have been totally lost to off-roading users, some 45 odd miles. If you could see some of the damage done by a "few" (not refferring to this incident)both on the Plain and surrounding area and even in Wales I'm sure you would find it as mind boggling and soul destroying as I do.

Having got to know some of the Land Wardens that patrol for the MOD and safeguard the fire ranges it is unbeliable some of the tales they can tell. Flags flying, barricades up etc , let alone the live ammo flying, idiots still ignore all this just because they think that once off the tarmac the laws of the highway do not apply and it all becomes their own off-road centre.

I expressed concern over the situation as echoed by wife and kids, not usually something I would bother with, but would like to think that my kids when old enough will still be able to enjoy some sort of off-roading.

Why you having a go at me, when you were not even present and not able to read correctly my psoting I'm not sure, but I will leave it there as I feel VA's post sums it up well.
