I am a simple man, but I do not understand how these Brokers get the stock, to offer the choices that they do at the price that they do, the coffee machines in the dealers waiting area can not be that expensive to run. How do they get hold of the new motors in the first place?

They don't deal with any cars, What they do is put you in touch with a supplying dealers that is prepared to offer their negotiated discount. Your contract is then with that dealer. In Andy's case the actual dealer is in Peterborough. You won't know the actual dealer until you've paid your deposit. WINNER - 2009 ‘Just Doing What It’s Designed To Do’ Award

PPE,

Most brokers market the dealer network very well and offer large numbers of sales in return for large discounts. Some dealers dee it as an efficient route as there is very little customer contact until the order is secured, therefore it is quite often dealt with by the dealerships fleet department. There will be dealer staff who take this route as it is more of an admin procedure as opposed to selling, therefore certain costs can be saved to offset the higher discount.

When demand is low then brokers are very useful as a few deals from them can make or break achieving targets etc, however at the moment supply is very short, therefore dealers with a broker relationship could be suffering longer lead times than those who avoid brokers.

All I would say is make sure you have a testimonial from someone who has used a specific Broker before you place your business. There are some good ones out there.

I tried Matt at LPR, very helpfull but only a wooley verbal maybe discounts of £1000 max

I wish landrover would give their dealers a lesson or two in basic sales.

if one dealer can do these deals then they all can

Neil,

None of the dealers are owned by LR and the RRP is the price quoted in the price list. If a dealer wants to sell at a lower price and reduce their margin then they can do, but due to Block Exemption rulings the manufacturer cannot price fix. Each dealer will be in a different situation as to how much allocation (stock) they have, what their local demand is like (we will have a higher demand for one product in London so will have more allocated, however that demand may not justify discounting).

We try to look after forum members as best possible (both price and service level), however we have one vehicle left for May, two for June and we have orders to place for July, which means that broker sized discounts are currently not being offered.

In my experience, by speaking to as many dealers and brokers as your time allows will always uncover a decent deal, however be very wary of false promises and expectations not being met. The number of vehicles a dealer is allocated is agreed annually, therefore when a dealer runs out (because they supply multiples via brokers at discounted rates) then you run into delivery delays which were not expected at the time of order.

We won't always be the cheapest, but we try very very hard indeed to be sraight down the line, manage expectations and deliver the right vehicle, in the right specification on a date that we predicted from the outset.

Please let Matt or I know if we can help in any way (even if it's advice on best spec/colours for future resale), but we're never going to be able to compete with the middle-men.

Hi James.

Matt was very helpful and explained this to me and also offered advice even if i buy elsewhere, however I now know 2 people who have ordered from broadspeed.com and had no problems as once a discount is secured they are passed straight onto the LR dealer to do all the paperwork and delivery dates etc.

in terms of sorting LR dealers out, i meant the rude ones that ignore you when you as for a quote or visit them. Not you guys, I just cant get away from some dealers accross all brands telling me that they have only 5-10% in a car when I buy many cars for my staff at work and for example I have just been buying vauxhall insignias with 27% off list and these were not even stock cars.

I wish I could buy my car from you guys as you have been more than helpful but a 6% saving cant be ignored, not when times are so hard and the price of diesel and living keeps going up.
