Early Delivery

Initially I was told I would be in my car for the second week in May.

More recently I was told it would be in the dealership for the 23rd of this month but not available to collect until the following Tuesday (27th April).

Received a call today and car has been delivered to dealership and I can collect on Friday Thumbs Up

Booked the train tickets down to Peterborough in about sixty seconds flat.

Can't wait for Friday now, Just hope I get a good'un.

Diesel, I see your from my town and you are collecting your car from Peterborough.....can i ask why.

I am about to order my second RRS and like my last this one will be coming from down south because of price.

I would be interested to hear your reason.

Wish mine was coming friday.

enjoy

Hi Neil.

I used a car discounting scheme called Broadspeed.com which is advertised in Top Gear magazine.

They negotiated me a very good discount off list (for the reasonable sum of £99.00)

The downsde is that the delership is in Peterborough. I could have had it delivered or trailered up but decided it might be fun to collect it.

I did visit more local dealers but Farnells in Leeds were helpful but couldn't or wouldn't offer any discount.

The sales guy in Wakefield Guy Salmon's couldn't be arsed talking to me so they were never gonna get the business!

I also went to the LandRover place at Huddersfield but again they couldn't or wouldn't offer any discount, citing that they didn't need to due to the number of cars being ordered.

Cheers

Andy

Diesel - you have described my experience with local dealers exactly. Wakefield GS were a joke - never returned calls, said they had cars in to look at that had been sold, advertised cars with way lower mileage and wrong spec !! They actually serviced a car I was buying from another dealer and never disclosed it didnt have a spare wheel!!!

Glad you got sorted. Thumbs Up FF 4.4 V8 Soooo looking forward to this bad boy

Ordered mine a couple of weeks after you, so I wonder if this is going to have any knock on effect? Let's hope so! The only concern for me is that I only ordered a "provisional" spec with my dealer to get a build slot whilst I went away and pondered over colour, extras etc. I'll be a bit alarmed if I get a phone call to say the vehicle's been built as I can't even remember what colour we put on the order and I've changed my mind on specs several times since!

As a matter of interest, what's the normal time difference between a Build Date and a Delivery Date? Alfa Romeo Giulietta 1.8::MG Montego Turbo::MGB GT::Rover Sterling::MGF::MG ZT 190+

Now that is really interesting

I too have tried to use GS Wakefield but they just cant be bothered and the same with Rocar, in fact I messaged Rocar through this site and to date have had no response, I even called in there this weekend and was ignored. Evil or Very Mad

Leeds have been helpfull but slow on the official quote and any sign of any discount, they also were quick to tell me the most discount they have ever done on a MY2010 was £1500 but if i got a better deal then he would take it to his manager.

Farnell Bradford £1500 without any real asking.

then

I tried Matt at LPR, very helpfull but only a wooley verbal maybe discounts of £1000 max

Now

broadspeed, offers of 6-8% off however still waiting for the quote
Broombroom.com 4-5% off, great service gave them the spec quote and finance quote recieved in hours. Very Happy

I wish landrover would give their dealers a lesson or two in basic sales.

if one dealer can do these deals then they all can

and as for Rocar boo!!!! you for not even emailing or ringing me back Evil or Very Mad

Diesel would you mind sending me a PM on how your experience was with broadspeed and what discounts you managed to get as they said last month they were getting 9.5% off...do i believe that....mmmm not sure.

Anyway enjoy your car...im looking forward to getting back in the RRS myself in September...just hoping the car price or the vat doesnt go up.

That was verbatim what they told me. Went to manager (who was off at the time) and five days later the sales guy (who was a decent guy to be honest) said they couldn't get anywhere near the Broadspeed deal and encouraged me to buy it through them.

I'll PM you the details of the deal I did with Broadspeed.

Thanks

Neil,

None of the dealers are owned by LR and the RRP is the price quoted in the price list. If a dealer wants to sell at a lower price and reduce their margin then they can do, but due to Block Exemption rulings the manufacturer cannot price fix. Each dealer will be in a different situation as to how much allocation (stock) they have, what their local demand is like (we will have a higher demand for one product in London so will have more allocated, however that demand may not justify discounting).

We try to look after forum members as best possible (both price and service level), however we have one vehicle left for May, two for June and we have orders to place for July, which means that broker sized discounts are currently not being offered.

In my experience, by speaking to as many dealers and brokers as your time allows will always uncover a decent deal, however be very wary of false promises and expectations not being met. The number of vehicles a dealer is allocated is agreed annually, therefore when a dealer runs out (because they supply multiples via brokers at discounted rates) then you run into delivery delays which were not expected at the time of order.

We won't always be the cheapest, but we try very very hard indeed to be sraight down the line, manage expectations and deliver the right vehicle, in the right specification on a date that we predicted from the outset.

Please let Matt or I know if we can help in any way (even if it's advice on best spec/colours for future resale), but we're never going to be able to compete with the middle-men.

James Thumbs Up
