Not personally but a neighbour has one. I hope you like walking for miles cos they get seriously bored without masses of exercise and end up howling like a wolf and chewing your furniture.

Yup Bradders has it right. They need lots of exercise. They easily bore also hence the chewing etc. Its is a dog thats needs engaging and challenging as well as lots and lots and lots of walking.

I have 2 Alaskan Malamutes which are basically giant huskies.

I love Malamutes - such abeautiful dogs and you're right, far more placid than Huskies - and around kids, i would say go for a Malamute - not saying a huskie would do anything, just that they can be a little boystrous and with kids they might get agitated..... |

A guy I work with has 2 (and 2 kids) I can put you in touch with him if you like, he won't mind at all. I've also heard the same thing about never letting them off the lead, also make sure your garden is well fenced in as they will escape through the smallest of holes.
