HDC Fault & Flat Battery

About 3 months ago i started geting HDC fault, special programmes off on start up but never realy paid it any attention as it was working and i didnt get it again until the first start up of the day. 3 weeks back came to start it up and nothing, battery was as flat as a pancake. The aa came out jump started it, tested the battery and said its fine,no problems with it i must have left a light on inside or some thing. Vechiles been fine since although still geting the HDC fault on the first start up of the day, then yesterday flat battery again. aa came out jumped it and tested the battery again, no problem with the battery but then after a few minutes he tested again and said its over chargeing, should be 13 to 14 (some thing) and it was chargeing at 15.4 he said i probably need a new alternator.

Ive read on here this avo about the HDC fault and it meaning the batterys on the way out,new battery will fix it,and since yesterdays jump start no HDC fault on start up. Not sure wich way to go on this, fit a new battery or just get a new alternator fitted,or both! any suggestions? https://s3-eu-west-2.amazonaws.com/i.hubnu...2c073c.gif

Was getting this on my D3, lots of HDC errors & bad starting in -15c & colder (N Scotland). New battery fixed this, no reoccurance. ISTR the D3 (rrs being a d3 in drag) alternator puts out 15.something volts normally so should just be a new battery. They seem only to last 3 or 4 years and LR have just uprated them. Thumbs Up

Battery Thumbs Up

You cannot leave anything on inside with the key out - everything goes to sleep

If still in warranty then should be covered, if over 3 years then new battery is £104 with allegance discount. Plus the new battery has a 3 year warranty. Make sure you get the new type as below (LR number) even though it has YG ••••130 on the battery itself.

Assuming the D3 battery is same as yours that is. Whistle
