RRS 2007 - High Mileage TDV8 or lower mileage TDV6 - UPDATE!

both around the same sort of price £31 - £33k for the HSE

It really depends what each vehicle has done in its life...a TDV8 with 66000 miles of heavy towing and off road work would probably be best avoided on the other hand if both have led a sheltered life and have a FSH then there has to be IMO more fun in the TDV8

TDV8 all the way mate. The V6 sounds like a tractor when idling and there's nothing like the surge of the V8 when you're driving.

The v6 is adequate, if you want a car that goes like a sports car....buy a sports car!.

really Rolling Eyes i think you must have a hearing defect...

TDv8 is far superior in performance, but as Scott says the TDv6 does okay if you are after a 4x4 not a sports saloon.. and no it does not idle like a tractor, but then again it does not have the V8 rumble..

You could always get the TDV6 remapped to improve performance.

How many miles a year will you do? If you do a really low mileage it might be worth getting the TDV8 as the mileage will balance out over the years. WINNER - 2009 ‘Just Doing What It’s Designed To Do’ Award

At last our RRS TDV8 HSE has arrived...

dealer delivered it to the door today.

Very helpful people at the dealership, but lets hope we don't see them for 12 months!

Sorry too late we've bought the V8 Laughing

Well we've had the car a whole week now. I spent 4 hours washing and polishing to get it up to my idea of clean and I'm still not totally happy, although the car was handed over immaculately by the dealer i have to point out.

I have found 3 stone chips on the entire car and two very small marks on one of the alloys. Amazing for a 3 year old car and definitely 1 very very careful owner. Not like some RRS we saw during the 6 month hunt.

I am still lost to understand how people can treat 60k cars so badly.

Anyway the car drives superbly and is absolutely effortless. The V8 growls nicely although it does sound a little gruff on tickover after a drive. but at cold it purrs very well indeed.

Here's to next weekend and some more polishing and tinkering Very Happy

that reminds me - sill plates - i need sill plates and maybe a K&N Air filter !

Glad I joined the forum, it helped a lot with with information to influence my final decision.

Cheers All
