my my06 Sport has had a very bad smoking preheater to the point where the jeep is now undriveable as its a danger. the fuel lines over pressurise and burst pumping diesel onto the exhaust as well. now it has had this problem since I bought it 2 years ago and finally they have had to fix i. in total it has been in the dealership for 10 weeks and both they and LR say they cannot fix the problem but we will sort it some time we don't know when could be a month could be 6 months you will have to wait. now they have given me a freelander but I did not pay £40k to drive a freelander. My issue is I want a replacement to the value of what I originally paid for mine £40k as it has been a pre existing problem that they have nursed since I have had it. I am totally fed up and just want it resolved asap. and help would really be great as I have been with my solicitor but the dealer says there will be no refund or exchange I have to wait until mine is fixed.
Oh LR says since I bought it second hand its not their responsibility to exchange but the dealers and they do not want to get involved.

Did you buy it 2nd hand from a legitimate Land Rover Dealer as part of the Land Rover Approved Scheme?
If not then I don't think you have any comeback. If you did and the exact problem was reported whilst the car was under the Approved Scheme Warranty Period then I would have thought you'd have some recourse against the Dealer but I'm not sure about recourse against Land Rover themselves. Perhaps you should contact Chrysler Jeep? Did you buy it from a Jeep dealer?

I agree with Endjin, it was used and your recourse will be with the supplying dealer not with LR. When I had issues, I was "assisted" into a new RRS but mine was bought new. Gone - 2008 Stornoway Grey RRS 2.7 TDV6

I bought mine from LR dealer brand new and after 9 weeks and umpteen different pieces of damage to the car they bought it back as they were only "fairly confident" they'd fixed the car at the 4th attempt. I did get an offer to be assisted into a new RRS but for all the assistance offered it was hardly worth it to be honest. That and the fact they couldn't get me a new car for months. Mine refused to replace it as I had had the car too long although my lawyer reckoned that they couldnt refuse to accept a rejection due to the faults being present for a few months.

The main problem you have here is that they kept fixing it and you kept accepting it back so you are seen to have "accepted the repairs" done to the car. But the next part is that they have had what is now "reasonable time" to effect the repair. I had a long conversation with my lawyer over this and they were the key phrases that you need to highlight to the dealer or simply get a solicitor to write to them as he/she will know which buttons to press to get a response. Current, M135i in Estoril Blue with more extras than the cast of Ben Hur.

ha its a jeep get over yourself.. its a pimped up chop shop discovery after all LOL!!! Yes it was a legitimate LR dealer fully serviced by them with a full history from new. It had this problem from I bought. Was offered a trade in £8k less than what the are selling lower specced models the same age for. Also contacted LR and am now getting conflicting reports from both sides very unhappy with this and have to say it has soured my opinion of the brand and am now considering a Porsche instead.
