Third world roads. Another wheel wrecked

I have had a slow puncture for a few weeks (been too busy to get it fixed until this morning). Cause of the air leak? A big dent on the inside rim of my front off side wheel. Wheel knackered. If you see a bandwagon - it's too late.....

Its the same up here just now. Just up the road we've a crater big enough to swallow most of a 20" rim! Shocked There's more than that though! Spend half the day slaloming round them to try and save wheels!

Been a lot of people trying to claim the damages back from the council to be told that its not them that are responsible for the holes! Evil or Very Mad So if the council aren't responsible for the roads then who is?

The state the roads are in up here it can't be long till there's a coming together of cars or even worse car and a bike!

Great to see your tax pounds being used usefully tho! Current, M135i in Estoril Blue with more extras than the cast of Ben Hur.

535d m-sport Platinum grey and a few extras.... Gone

X5 3.0 sd in Space Grey, 20's, Dynamic Pack, Memory Pack, Media Pack, Tow Pack, Rear DVD, Panoramic Sunroof, Steps, 7 Seat Pack, Reversing Camera with moving lines, programmable park heat, etc etc etc - Gone

Range Rover Sport Santorini, privacy, dvd, towpack GONE!!!

Local roads are the responsibility of a local authority (if you have both and County and a Borough Council it is usually the County) but main (eg A) roads are normally the responisibity of central govenrment so it depends on the type of road the pothole is in. Also it can be a defence against a claim if the pothole had not been reported to the Council before the incident took place. So if you have any potholes in your area get on the phone and report them, try the local Council first, they will normally tell you if they are not responsible for that particular road and who is. It may not help you but it might help someone else. Gordon Kerr

Codfather came to the rescue. I bought his brand new OEM 19s with Pirellis this morning from his shiny new MY 10 plate. If you see a bandwagon - it's too late.....

What wheels did you have on you RRS. Got a slow puncture myself no nails or obvious tyre damage and Kwik-Fit replaced the valve so next step is to take tyre off and have a look at the wheel for damage.

Just asking in case your selling your old tyres off one by one. Whistle

Hi Bullet

They are 20' SC alloys. One is dented on the inside rim and all of them have kerb dings. I plan on having them refurbished and then keeping them as spares / summer rims and using the 19s for off-road and winter.

If you need a tyre and are in Glasgow, call Performance Tyres in Carmunnock 0141 644 4512 and speak to Jimmy or George and tell them you are a mate of mine. They supply all kinds of tyres but they are the main importer of Hankook tyres in Glasgow. Good tyres at sensible money.
Graham

here's the dented one that caused the slow puncture

Cheers mate, i'll give them a call as it looks like tyre damaged on the side wall and not the wheel itself. I'll give them a bell and get a tyre priced. I'll mention you put me onto them.

Cheers

Bullet
