Fuel Tank Replacement

Has anyone experienced a leaking diesel fuel tank on the RRS. I've just had to pay £1200 to have one replaced because a mouse supposedly chewed through it. I was told that this was a possible cause before I even took the car in to have it replaced - jst seems a bit strange?!?

It is a known problem on D3s.

Rodents seem to find the integral angled plastic pipe on top of the tank attractive and chew through it. Some owners have managed to repair the tank. This picture is on DISCO3.CO.UK

Did the mouse eat from the top, or start from the bottom.
Only because if it started from the bottom it must have been a RAT
unless the mouse was on a box.
