Easy way of getting to the back of Radio?

Hi everyone,

Does anyone know of a simple, easy way of getting in behind the radio etc without having to take the entire car to bits.

I need to change my remote for my hands free kit and only need to pull out the old one from where ever it is, and replace it with with the new one. The current wire looks like it goes in and behind the radio somewhere. Thumbs Up

I know it looks daunting but the panels just pull off....

and for the little screws use a magnetic screwdriver.....

Alex,

Many thanks.

I can't believe that's all you have to do. It looks far to easy I've been having night mares about how to get it done. Do I have to pull the wooden trim bits on the side off as well?

Confused

Hi there... I last did this when I installed my Bluetooth... Very Happy

I think you have to remove the gear selector cover and the 5 connectors underneath!!

Then....

Lift the centre arm rest up and out of the way and then pull up from both sides right at the back (arm rest end) and the whole thing lifts out....

From memory the heater control panel lips over the edge of the radio so this must come away first....

When refitting everything should fit really well and should not be a pain. If it is then something is wrong (usually some wires not in the right place.....

Hope this helps

Alex

There are 5 electrical connectors that plug into the bottom of the gear selector section... You will see when you come to pull up on that bit of interior....

Let me get this right. Once I have removed the gear selector cover, I then pull up the center console both sides from the arm rest end and should then see the connectors before I actually remove the whole thing or should I see them before then????

O.K. Here goes....

1. Remove the 2 covers ( pic 98 ) Note: I found that the connecting piece between them came away as well....
2. Put gear selector into neutral (Put the park brake on!!)
3. Pull off the knob (Grasp firmly and don't smack yourself in the face. I did!!)
4. Lift the gear selector/parkbrake/rideheight cover and disconnect the 5 electrical connectors...
5. Remove the 2 screws holding the front of the centre console sides.
6. Pull up on the centre console sides (at the rear) and lift the whole section away....

This is when you will have access to the Torx screws for the radio and heater unit....

Thumbs Up

I could do it on mine again and take some pictures if you want....
