This is a really tricky topic, and the truth is I do not know how I would react. All the advice is dont confront, let them take what they want, but this is why they know they can do it. However hard I tried, if I was scared and angry I would go over the top, because if you make a strike you gotta make sure that they dont get up again. Then alas, I would be in jail, and the scum would be getting compensation. Is there any intelligent life on earth? purple people eater

Daz I realise the law is an ass but if some scum come into my house and put my wife at risk they will suffer badly and i will worry about what happens to me after. Why should scum be protected as they are.[/quote]

I'm not saying don't put them in a world of pain.....just be careful how you do it.
Unless you know what you are doing with a baseball bat it will be a waste of time and you are likely to get more hurt. Most people swing one about in confined areas without the finesse to actually cause damage, once they have grabbed hold of it you have lost the battle.
A household cleaning product that was lying around at the time you were scared wittless might not be considered an intentional weapon when the cops analyse the incident afterwards. A good dose of bleach in someones will certainly stop them attacking you and put the odds well and truely in your favour!
Hey you might even be lucky to do some real damage to stop them doing it ever again.

Have a cannester of CS gas in your house and you are in possession of a section 5 firearm that could get you time. Have a plastiic spray bottle of bleach or cleaner in your possession and you are a house proud cleaner that keeps down germs at home. The latter is far more dangerous if sprayed in the eyes and will cause lasting peoblems....go figure!!!

United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Santorini Black

Last night when the Mrs and I got back from dinner with friends just before we turned into our cul-de sac two black Honda civics with black tinted glasses followed us closely on to our road. They drove past us as we waited for the gate to open and waited at the end of the road. Once our motion sensor flood lights had gone off they drove past our house again slowing down in front of the gate before pulling off.

I didn't get the reg. nos. as I was taken by surprise and now I am kicking myself. A bit worried that they may have been scouting for cars to nick. I blocked the RR sport by parking the Mercedes in front of it and slept with the alarm on last night. I wonder if the b Censored s are going to come back. Never argue with an idiot as he will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

Parking another car in front doesn't work,my mate tried this they just smeared thick grease in front and slid it out of the way.
Another mate lost his Discovery by just lifting it straight onto a low loader with a crane and his bedroom is over his drive!!
His neighbours watched it and presumed it was legit, right at 2.00am Rolling Eyes MY2011 HSE Santorini/Ivory/Piano Black/Privacy Glass/TV .Sadly gone.

I am always conscious of the rear view mirror whan approaching home - i have in the past overshot the house / road to check anything odd following behind turns away. One of the most vunerable times when exiting the car / entering the house unless aware of surroundings ...

We have the luck to live in a place about 50 yards from a one-way road, with just 2 houses in front of ours.
Our place is not visible from the road, and any weird guy wandering around to check the place would get
instantly noticed. Plus 2 dogs guarding both house.
Plus there is always someone present in one of the 3 houses, and thieves don't like people to be at home
— unless they intend to kill you. Rolling Eyes

The first thing I did this morning was to check whether the car was still there and thankfully it still was. Let's hope it stays that way.

Any top tips for making things difficult for these b Censored s.

I am thinking of locking the gate at night. It has provision for a padlock. Never argue with an idiot as he will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

Believe me they dont worry about you being at home or alarms. They intend to be in, find the keys and away before you wake up fully.

Anything you do to 'lock' your car in most likely has a key that will be close to your car keys so it only slows the process down. If the insurance company would allow it I would have a box by the front door bell with car keys written on it and store them there!
At least they wouldnt need to damage the door lock.

Gravel
Gates
Lights with PIR
Camera with visible infa-red LED's
Beware of the dog sign
Alarm case with pulsing light

then......

Check if you're being followed and if so drive to a Police station to make it clear they have been clocked. They all communicate with each other in localities, therefore if you look like you are aware and are not an easy target then they should move on to the next one.

Any nice car is desirable, not just RRS's.

Yes, happened twice to my accountant : robbers stealing things while he and his spouse were sound asleep.
Wouldn't do with me : I would wake instantly.

With gap insurance....after a few years personally I wouldn't be bothered if stolen as you get a brand new one!

The bad thing is that with a tracker you are likely to get it back tainted. Big Cry
