Hi everyone, Im new here currently own a MINI Cooper S Clubman which I'm wanting to trade for a range rover sport or a bmw 335i preferably the r/r sport.

I have seen that the supercharged version fetch lower sale values but obviously higher running costs-is this the only reason or do they have more expensive problems? I can live with low mpg-what realisticaly do they get from town and motorway commute?

At the moment I can afford an older supercharged version or a higher mileage tdv6

My dad is a very keen defender owener and has a landrover mechanic friend-he has told me to be careful as nearly all of the electric steering adjustment go and cost over a £1000 to be replaced, is this true?

Don't know much about the SC really and TBH I have not heard anyone on here having serious issues with the electric stearing adjust. As a general bit of advice though, I would say if you can afford a RRS that still has warranty left on it then I'd go for that rather than worry about which engine it has. At least then you have some comfort in knowing you have a bit of protection against any problems. I'm not 100% sure but I think if you buy an LR Approved used car from a LR dealer then you get a years warranty anyway, Maybe James from Lookers Park Lane(Forum Sponsor) could confirm or correct me on this one. 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black

Hello there Endjin, Thankyou for the advice, I was thinking of going the aftermarket route for warranty with Kam, it says you only get 6 months warranty for secondhand landrover through landrover which is half what every other manufacturer gives! unless I'm reading it wrong.

The idea of the s/c is that they seem fully loaded where as a tdv6 doesnt have the same spec, my budget isnt as large as some so I dont mind a higher mileage example however my idea is to get the highest spec for the cheapest price

I think my dads just trying to put me off with the steering issue haha

Ive just brought a 56 RRS which had just had its normal warranty run out but LR added another year to that so i take it as 1yr on all LR/RR that are past the 4 year mark is a rule of thumb for them??

Taken from LR website...

A minimum 12 months fully comprehensive unlimited Mileage Warranty for Land Rovers up to 5 years old and up to 75,000 miles on the speedometer at the time of purchase.

So unless car is over 5 years old or higher than 75k you will get 12 months warranty plus other benefits
