Australia 2005 Range Rover Sport 4.4 V8 HSE Tangiers Orange

Had my G4 'detailed' yesterday, pretty convinced it's never been polished in its life.

Have to say, I'm stunned at the results

Before the chappie set about with his polish & machinery

After

Seemed a shame to drive 200 miles this morning and make it dirty again, but at least now it'll be a damn sight easier to clean.

He's even managed to rejuvenate the stickers Thumbs Up

Yeah, Matt's doing a full report of it. Have to say he's done an immense job, I'm really impressed with the result and the scratch removals he's managed to do. Even after a 200 mile journey to work through the wet salty roads it still looks great. Thumbs Up Ex-G4 Challenge RRS HSE, BV55 YZE. Subtle shade of orange ! When using clay, they say you need to use a lubricant (yes I'm talking about car waxing still!) can someone tells me the method used when using clay and lubricant - the lower parts of the doors are slightly rough....want that glass finish.....can you do the whole car in one go or can you do door by door - and can you use it by hand or is a machine better???

2005 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Vesuvius Orange

There are plenty of clays/lubricants on the market, meguiars and dodo are 2 that spring to mind.
Make sure you use plenty of lubricant with the clay bar, if it feels like it's dragging then you need to use more lubricant, keep turning the clay and re-moulding it in your hand, but you can do the whole car in one, don't forget you can use the clay on the windows and wheels as well.
After claying, the detailing people say that you should wash again before polishing and waxing.
I've just done my beast and it took 3 days.
Forgot to add, this is a " hand job " Thumbs Up 2005 Vesuvius 1st edition ( now sadly gone ).

NickM - you have to use a spray lubricant with the clay bar and you can buy it as a kit with the clay or separately.

I do a panel at a time, spray the panel, cut a piece of clay off the block, squash it flat and rub the clay along the bodywork. You can feel the clay lifting all the crap off the paintwork. Its important to keep the clay lubricated so keep spraying as you go. Once you've had a go you'll realise how easy it is. It really does leave a glass like finish ready for polishing and waxing.

If you have a go let us know how you get on. Thumbs Up FF 4.4 V8 Soooo looking forward to this bad boy

Elite car care sell a clay bar that you can use water as a lubricant, really easy as you can keep the hose in one hand and clay bar in other, also means there's no oily lube to wash of afterwards.

I used it last year and found it really easy, don't be alarmed if after using the clay bar you see lots of small fine scratches as the lime prime(or other similar product)will remove these.

why oh why oh why don't more people use this stuff??? Megu stuff was sold out so I got Auto Glym kit instead - and it is AMAZING!!! I was about to pay a company £400 to detail my car, but I can get it to how I want myself - ok I won't machine it, but the 2 panels I did in half hour, are silky glass smooth - and it looks wonderful!!!

Thanks guys - I would never have used this product if I hadn't heard you all going on about it all the time - great stuff and the RRS is now getting to showroom condition!!! Thumbs Up
