Dealer and get them to fit it as it's a real pig Exclamation

If you try it yourself you will probably break another glass trying to do it. If dealer breaks it they will pick up the bill and not you Idea

One or two of us have had the experience Wink TDV6 - gone

I had the misfortune to awake one morning to find the Audi wing mirror located on the road instead of on the car, I purchased a ne mirror and mirror housing , tried to fit it myself, broke both the mirror & the housing and subsequently went to the dealer, paid 245 quid, yes 245 quid, and got him to do it!!!!

Yep that's about right for the glass. I went through a couple myself.

And Josh is right - DEFINITELY get them to fit it, it's more luck than judgement to get them on.

Best bet is main dealer - £30.53p incl VAT - just bought one.

The mechanic there showed me the trick to fitting the new glass without breaking it ...... Very Happy

1. Push the black plastic ring inside the mirror assembly at the bottom as far as it will go dwn (i.e. so if the mirror glass was attached, it would be pointing down at around 45 degrees).

2. On the back of the mirror glass, you will see that the top of the corresponding black plastic ring has two clips in the corner that clip over the top of the inernal ring. On the bottom of the mirror glass there are 2 small and 1 large clips. Now connect the heated mirror wires before you go any further.

3. Slide the mirror glass over the top of the internal ring so that the corner black triangular clips (above) are seated over the two lugs and the mirror supports itself.

4. Now push the mirror downwards so that the mirror glass is in line where it should be, but still protruding.

5. GENTLY push the centre bottom of the mirror glass inwards so that the 2 small and 1 large clip slip into place (a little clicking sound should be heard when it is seated properly).

6. Er ... that's it.

7. Now remove the mirror glass again and connect the heated mirror wires that you forgot to connect in step 2.

8. Clean grubby finger marks and test electric movement.

9. As Gordon Ramsay would say ... "RRS Wing Mirror Glass Replacement - Done". (Or even F Censored ing Done).

Clearly I don't take any responsibility for broken mirror glass, in case there are any lawyers reading.

Does anyone have any pictures of the mirror housing (motor) with the glass removed ?

I want to take the glass out and replace the motor but for the life of me I can't see any clips that are referenced in this thread...

And no, I'd rather do it myself that take it to LR Smile

Thanks

Couldn't agree more - if you try and do it and the glass breaks, you'll need to buy another one. If you get LR to do it and they break it, then you won't Thumbs Up

You are a brave man, IIRC you have to press really hard on the glass to get it to clip in, wear gloves! purple people eater

You could ask on the D3 forum if they have a copy uploaded anywhere?
