yes - sorry, I meant to say nothing will match 50W

they 5W GU10's from Deltech produce around 35W

give me two minutes and I'll upload a pic showing them both next to each other

Thumbs Up

I have 12 of the 50w in the house, in hallways, landing and the kitchen, the kitchen already incorporates LEDs as under wall units and also above wall units, so this might make it look even better Thumbs Up

First pic - two bulbs on the left are 50W GU10 - 2 on the right are 5W LED (Deltech)

This pic shows the light puddle on the carpet - the nearest one is 5W LED and the further one is 50W GU10

cheers

I'll have a chat with the wife see what she thinks

i know the savings are pretty good on the electric bill, but cost to buy the bulbs and the house on the market to sell it might not be the best time to spend £200 Confused

Kaine, I looked into LED's before but on many reviews I read they said they didnt last that long. Are these Deltech ones the ones to go for / better ones?

the internal LED drivers tend to fail before the LED itself (hence the manufacturers quoting 100,000 hours for the LED - thats probably correct). The reason I tend to recommend Deltech is we've been replacing dead LED bulbs with these recently (over the last 18months really) and nto found one thats failed yet.

Personally I don't think LED lighting is worth it at the moment if you doing it to save money - or even to save CO2. Think lamps first and then usage - also if your designing a house DONT USE DOWNLIGHTS. The other reason to change to LED's is fire risk reduction - 50W GU10's run extremely hot and could be construed as a fire hazard

How good a replacement for a 20W halogen, in a landscape lighting situation do you think they would be. ?

i wouldn't be going the LED to save money & most certainly not from a Co2 point of view, the whole GW thing is a load of codswallop IMO Rolling Eyes It would be more from a load reduction stand point. Running up a couple of dozen 5w LEDS compared to 20W halogens offers a reduction in load.

that's a good point actually for me as the landing light with 4 x Gu10 in can be in most of the night especially if our lad is have trouble sleeping as he won't have a light on in his bedroom but wants the landing light on, his bedroom also downlighters in with GU10 so that's another reason due heatbuild up too

Kaine, have just changed all 4 of my GU10 Halogens for Deltech GU10-M7W 5watt Coolwhite LEDs, a little disappointed with the light level, the angle seems to be quite narrow, can you get wider angled ones and would the warm white be dimmer than cool white?

Just about to have a kitchen refit and they are adding a few more halogen downlighters in parts of the units and wondering if I should change them to warm white.

Saw these on amazon from Light Planet, says 7watt with 60 degree angle Shocked would they be any good?
