The RS600 Engine Upgrade is a no cost option, and if this option is selected then we have a disclaimer that would need to be filled out stating that the warranty may be void if Land Rover discover that the vehicle has been tuned. At the end of the day this question can go on & on BUT there is a simple question, Are the Kahn (or any other) 22" wheels appproved by Land Rover. If the answer is Yes then there may be grounds for a warranty claim against LR. If the answer is NO then the following section from the "Whats NOT covered by your warranty" part of the Warranty Manual that came with your car applies:-

Superchips offer a warranty on the engine if they remap a vehicle so why cant other tuning/styling companies cover their own work?? Is there something they're afraid of in the work they do? That isn't just directed at Kahn here before this thread turns in to a Kahn bashing but ALL these companies? How many offer any type of warranty at all on their aftermarket modifications?? If they're glad enough to accept your hard earned readies then surely they should have the balls to stand by the work they do if it's to the high standards that they all claim it is?

Hardly, I was just expecting a specific response. I have been with LR for over 10 years and have never sold a new or used vehicle with 22" wheels or a chip (chips are difficult to spot by the dealer so I'd have to say 'not knowingly'). This is interesting topic for me as we have a lot of modified vehicles close to us being in London. In my opinion, any non-approved mods (except perhaps colour coding) detract from the vehicles value. I have regular conversations with customers who have had this done or that done, and all I want to do is to establish how cost effectively the car can be returned to standard. So the RS600 engine upgrade is FOC? Does this remove any liability if it's free? If the manufacturers warranty is void then do Kahn contribute? If a 5.0 SC engine 'let go' then LR would want data from every ECU and would be very thorough in their investigation. Perhaps I should sell alloy wheels (approved of course) and throw in a new RRS Free of charge as an option for £53k. That way I only need to warrant the wheels.... James |
