I think you guys are being a little unfair purely because Ewan has Kahn wheels installed, I could imagine a different response if he had 22" Stormer wheels or Overfinch.

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Java Black

what would happen if you baught for instance a Kahn RS600... (tunned 5.0supercharged engine) and the supercharger failed...

obviously landrover wouldnt P*ss on it if it was on fire since it had been tunned, but what would Kahn's stance be on it?

if i was to buy one (posibly crossed my mind) what would kahn do if it went wrong? anything i buy from a "tunning" company in future il have in writing before i buy their guarantee to fix any warantee issues that went wrong! RR Sport supercharged 06

The RS600 Engine Upgrade is a no cost option, and if this option is selected then we have a disclaimer that would need to be filled out stating that the warranty may be void if Land Rover discover that the vehicle has been tuned.

At the end of the day this question can go on & on BUT there is a simple question, Are the Kahn (or any other) 22" wheels appproved by Land Rover. If the answer is Yes then there may be grounds for a warranty claim against LR. If the answer is NO then the following section from the "Whats NOT covered by your warranty" part of the Warranty Manual that came with your car applies:-

• Failure of a non-approved Land Rover part
and/or the failure or misuse of a product or
accessory not recommended by Land
Rover. Additionally, any consequential
damage caused by the installation or use
of such parts, products or accessories will
not be covered by the Land Rover Vehicle
or Parts Warranties.
• Any modification to the vehicle or parts
which is not authorised by Land Rover,
including any engine performance
enhancement modifications.

This then leads to the question of who is responsible for supplying warranty in this circumstance. If the parts were supplied on a new or used car supplied by an LR Dealer then I would suggest your claim for warranty support is with the dealer themselves, not LR. If the car was modified by a third party (such as Kahn or Revere Etc) then I would suggest your claim is with them. It is then up to the Dealer or third party company who supplied the vehicle to take up any further issues pertaining to your claim, such as proving a design fault with the car is the issue and NOT their modification, directly with LR on your behalf. If they can resolve the issue with LR and have your car repaired under LR warranty then all well and good. If they cannot then they must take on board their liability. The last person who should be out of pocket here is the consumer who bought his car in good faith! 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black

Superchips offer a warranty on the engine if they remap a vehicle so why cant other tuning/styling companies cover their own work?? Is there something they're afraid of in the work they do? That isn't just directed at Kahn here before this thread turns in to a Kahn bashing but ALL these companies? How many offer any type of warranty at all on their aftermarket modifications?? If they're glad enough to accept your hard earned readies then surely they should have the balls to stand by the work they do if it's to the high standards that they all claim it is?

Superchips Warranty as on their site:-

Our Superchips Warranty
Evidence of Cover
At the Superchip installation date, a current original Warranty provided by the manufacturer of the motor vehicle is required for this guarantee to be operative, and it is a Condition that such Warranty remains in force until its normal expiry date. This Warranty applies only in the event and to the extent that the Manufacturer’s Warranty does not respond.

The Superchips Warranty applies (subject to the Terms & Conditions, available on request) to damage directly caused to the relevant Motor Vehicle arising directly from Mechanical or Electrical Breakdown by reason of failure of the Superchips product installed by a Superchips Authorised Installer (or by the Customer using a bluefin device) during the period of this Warranty. Current, M135i in Estoril Blue with more extras than the cast of Ben Hur.

Hardly, I was just expecting a specific response. I have been with LR for over 10 years and have never sold a new or used vehicle with 22" wheels or a chip (chips are difficult to spot by the dealer so I'd have to say 'not knowingly').

This is interesting topic for me as we have a lot of modified vehicles close to us being in London. In my opinion, any non-approved mods (except perhaps colour coding) detract from the vehicles value. I have regular conversations with customers who have had this done or that done, and all I want to do is to establish how cost effectively the car can be returned to standard.

So the RS600 engine upgrade is FOC? Does this remove any liability if it's free? If the manufacturers warranty is void then do Kahn contribute? If a 5.0 SC engine 'let go' then LR would want data from every ECU and would be very thorough in their investigation.

Perhaps I should sell alloy wheels (approved of course) and throw in a new RRS Free of charge as an option for £53k. That way I only need to warrant the wheels.... Rolling Eyes
