United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black
red tow bar insert

I have been towing a trailer a fair bit the last couple of days. I stowed the towbar away this afternoon in the usual cubby hole and inserted the plastic (red) blanking plate into the towbar hole under the bumper. Bloody thing wont click home and is falling out. Any advice?

Turn it round Laughing

Quite normal, had same problem in the past. Try some WD40 on plastic insert and push home. Should stay put eventually Thumbs Up MY10 TDV6 HSE, Alaska White, Ebony with Contrast, Park Heat, Paddle Shift, Privacy, Heated Steering Wheel, Extended & Premium Leather,

well, I'm fairly sure that mine never fell out - after the second one disappeared (strangely after parked nights out) - I just left the aperture. Unlike the VW logo craze 20 years ago, I've never actually seen any teenagers wearing these strange red "H" cubes of plastic.

I am thinking about it Jim. But I am waiting for the known gremlins to get fixed by LR first! Too many members who have traded for the new one are having too many problems. I don't want nor need the grief despite my love for the RRS

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

Ended up using a little clear silicone sealant smeared onto the insert to keep it in on my last RRS when it started to drop out. Haven't had the same problem (yet!) with the current car. It was just a tiny amount and after each time the tow hitch was used, then next time round it was easy just to peel it off and apply some new sealant. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Just noticed I don't have one on my new car. Are they still fitted to MY10 cars? and if so,
are they really needed... i.e. should I be asking my dealer for one? 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black

I don't thinkthey are fitted to HST cars since the bumper covers the tow hitch!

IIRC on the last RRS this happened - think i 'flexed' the catch part of the bung outwards so that it worked again
